The first grade readers I share these books with adore them! They were so excited to see a new adventure. Living in rainy Seattle, my readers can identify with Piggie's frustration about not being able to enjoy playing outside on a rainy day. As always with the Elephant and Piggie series, the expressions on the faces of the characters, the clear body language, and the simple-- but wonderfully funny-- dialogue help early readers experience all the drama and humor as they read the story.
Mo Willems is one of the best writers in children's literature today. The Elephant and Piggie books are great for little ones learning to read. Mr. Willems has a unique gift for making books with few words and simple illustrations laugh-out-loud funny.My 4 year old daughter loves all of the books and has most of the Elephant and Piggie books memorized. She loves to read them aloud. She also loves to look for the sly appearances of characters from the other books that Mr. Willems includes in every book he writes.Bottom line: Great books for kids and fun for Mom and Dad, too.
Hooray! Another one of my great favorites. I love reading these books to little children. They enjoy them so much. This Mo Willems is no exception. It is great fun and little folks are learning to read with these books. I have seen it happen several times. The characters Gerald and Piggy are absolutely charming and have such real personalities. Children can relate to their various problems or situations. The books are just so much pure fun to read and then we laugh and giggle and read it again usually. Mo Willems is one of my great favorites. I think I am in love. But I do know that I love his books and the responses from the children when these books are read to them. It is great.
Sometimes I think I buy Mo Willems' books as much for myself as I do for my 4-year old twin granddaughters. They're fun to read and the girls find them to be laugh-outloud funny. "Are You Ready to Play Outside" is no exception. There are no better friends than Gerald and Piggy and they show little ones how to be better friends. I love these books!
My first grader's teacher often reads the Elephant and Piggie books to the class, so I've been hearing about how funny they are. This is a cute easy reader, and based on my daughter's reaction very engaging for beginning readers.
My 4yr old son LOVES reading these Elephant and Piggie books. He's taken many to school and his teacher has said that the entire class loves them and it's some of the only books that the entire class sits completely quiet for. Would DEFINITELY recommend any of these books!!
Always a fan of Mo Willems. I bought it as a gift for my daughter's Kindergarten class. I visited the class and read it to the students. The whole class loved it. Kids had lot of fun listening to it. Piggy and the Elephant series is an all time favorite of my daughter.
My 8 year old came home from school the other day, begging for these books. I was able to pick up 3 for $5-6 dollars each, which is an incredible price!I am so impressed with the stories, the words are small, even my kindergartener can read most of them. The story line are so cute and I feel like my kids are actually learning some manners.I will definatly buy more books by this author!
