This has been one of my 19-month-old son's favorites books. It is a staple of his bedtime stories. He seems to like Pookie's independence (picking his PJ's, hiding from his Mommy), and I like that it still reinforces a "fun" bedtime routine. He likes saying Pookie's lines in the book too.
My 2 year old son loves the Pookie books. This is one we read almost every night before bed and always a few times. This story is about Pookies' bed time routine with Mom. He has his funny little responses that my son thinks are hilarious, especially when Mom gives kisses in the book ( I give my son kisses with it and he just cracks up!) I just love the relationship between Mom and Pookie and I love the bonding time I get to have with my son with this book. We love just about all Sandra Boynton books but this has become a favorite! This is a great book for Toddlers as it pretty much sums up your night time routine.
Our 22-month-old grandson loves this book (actually, he likes most books, but he is enthralled by this). He and Daddy think it is great for all day reading, not just bedtime.
I have all three Pookie books, and this one is my favorite. It is such a cute little story and I simply love it.
This story is adorable, with the typical easy rhyming of Sandra Boynton and an extra twist of sweet fun with the responses of Pookie. I appreciate the bits of humor that are not sarcastic or obnoxious, but still will be fun for my daughter as she gets old enough to understand them. I highly recommend it!
Previous reviews and ratings led us to this set of Pookie Books. We were not aware of them beforehand. The ratings are a strong determinant of our purchasing decisions, and these have been accurately rated for our 3-year-old. Very calming as our child goes to bed.Night-Night, Little Pookie
Sandra Boynton, Night-Night, Little Pookie (Robin Corey Books, 2009)Sandra Boynton's books are usually gold, but every once in a while a little extra magic happens. I can never quite put my finger on what it is that makes Book A work better than Book B, but like the man said, I know it when I see it. Night-Night, Little Pookie is it. The last two pages of this book are exactly the kind of magic Boynton weaves in her best moments. Good stuff indeed. ****
I absolutely adore Sandra Boynton's book, and this is, by far, her best. The tender story of a mom and her child, Pookie, perfectly encapsulates toddler bedtimes with wry good humor and love. I've bought copies for other new mothers, and have read this favorite to my daughter so many times that I can recite it by heart. The rhyme at the end means this transcends your typical picture book. I also appreciate the fact that the Pookie books aren't explicitly gendered. Pookie could be an impish boy *or* girl. Who doesn't like pajamas with stars?!
