This was a very suspenseful read, though I luckily know the final outcome before I started to read it. The research was very thoroughly done and I love that the author gives some background info on the living situation of the miners, as well as background info on mining etc. Would highly recommend this book for any reader 8 years or older.
This book is excellent! I bought it to see if it might fit into my 6th grade World Geography class. It will be perfect! I love that the story is well-written. The pictures go great with the story too. In the back of the book, there are some great resources to use in the classroom. If you teach about Latin America, this is a must-have.
I think that I must not have read the book description carefully. I was so disappointed with the book as it was very small, read in about 15 minutes and I believe it was intended for a preteen audience. I was looking for a detailed account of this harrowing experience - very disappointed.
Working as a miner is dangerous work. The thought of doing down and never coming back up is always present in the minds of those who do this type of work. This rings true for those 33 miners that were trapped for 69 days underground in a mine. Through first hand stories and photographs this book brings their stories to life. The book includes a glossary, list of further reading ideas, and a listing of websites to visit to learn more about the topic. Recommend to readers that enjoy learning about recent history.
Excellent book. It has nice thick paper and well made. The text and pictures bring this even to life. Highly recommend.
