Beautifully designed. Well documented. Will be used to inspire children of the public school system of Puerto Rico next year when the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico will house a magnificent exhibit on the topic of Marco Polo that is coming from Italy.
There's so much to love about this book. As an adult, I can't get enough of handling all the interactive pieces. I can't imagine how much fun a child must have exploring them! Marco Polo's travels are complicated and this book makes it much easier to understand. It's is absolutely gorgeous. I hope to buy more of books like these from this publisher. Every home and school library should have this book!
There has to have been a printing revolution in the last ten years. Everywhere I look, there are new children's books that feature sophisiticated flaps, envelopes, tabs and pop up illustrations. A book type that I once associated with young children has now migrated to an older age group. It as though the attention spans of older children have regressed to an earlier stage of development.Visually, "Marco Polo: History's Great Adventurer" is quite impressive. The quality of printing and book craftsmanship is quite amazing. Unfortunately, the quality of the writing is only average. It must be hard to write a good narrative around a book that is primarily designed more for visual appeal than it is for imparting factual information. I would recommend this book for the child that has a short attention span or is more of a visual learner.
Factual and beautifully done. Can be enjoyed by many readers, teenagers to adults. Also presented in a way that would be of interest to young children maps hidden in pockets and well done illustrations.
