It's a great calendar but my husband order this thinking it would have something along the lines of when to grow things but it didn't. It has lovely pictures and I'll use like any other, I'll just had to look up the things he wants to grow and put it on the calendar manually.
I realize the dimensions are on the description but with a calendar this size, the information they put on there (which is a lot) is simply too small to casually refer to. I have to get real close...if the calendar were full size, it would be better, but considering the amount of information they put on there (although they could put more), the type face is simply too small.
I was actually expecting good gardening information written on this calender. Instead it is filled with unimportant trivia like the birthday of the founder of "The Old Farmer's Almanac". Not sure how many people actually need that knowledge when gardening but it is there.
Nice Calendar, I will probably buy it again for 2015 when the time comes. We enjoy the monthly comments on different planting times, etc. The calendar has all major holidays, and important gardening dates marked, as one would expect.
It gives you simple tips in gardening. It tells you about the moon changes and the significance of each full and new moon. It gives you a little history on important dates. Shows drawings of fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and bird scenery.
I was excited that the almanac had a gardening calendar, however I was a bit disappointed with the content. It is nice and has some nice illustrations and information. Beyond that it is just a regular calendar, I was hoping it would have much more gardening and planting information to follow, I guess you have to to buy the actual almanac for that. :(
Last year I tried the The Old Farmer's Almanac Recipe Calendar, but came back to the Old Farmer's Almanac Gardening Calendar. The recipes listed each month on the Recipe Calendar take up too much valuable writing space. The Gardening Calendar has more writing space and is perfect for me. I also love the 8 1/2 x 11 size of the Calendar, allowing it to fit into a file folder. This is my favorite Calendar ever.
The Old Farmer's Almanac Gardening Calendar is an absolute necessity as far as I'm concerned. It provides very helpful information on gardening, and entertaining anecdotes and trivia, along with moon phases. I have one in my kitchen, and I give them as gifts at Christmastime. It is a great calendar!
