You must get this book if you are looking for a super simple way to learn easy programming. Could not possibly be any easier. The diagrams are colorful and even though a third grader could use this book alone it doesn't have an idiot feel at all. As an adult I am enjoying doing it with my very smart 13 year old son. Really entertaining and more fun tone than educational.
A book that will frustrate you and the kids you hoped to teach. Code is incorrect. No explanation of how to use Turtle. I found how to use it in another book. DO NOT BUY.
I bought this book along with others of the same subject to help my 8 year old granddaughter that is really interested in coding. This was a fun book for both of us.I like that after going through the book and all the instructions on how to do certain things there is a quiz at the end. The quiz was actually fun to take (I know this because I did it myself, lol). You will be sure to learn the basics of coding when using this book and I can assure you you will walk away feeling a little bit smarter.I recommend this book to not only kids in this age group but to adults who also want to learn but maybe don't understand computer lingo at all. So many adults shy away from learning computer language because books in our age group are made by computer specialists that don't take into account the average person doesn't understand. This book will solve that problem. The software you will learn on is a little outdated but the basic idea is the same regardless of the software age. I have been a computer tech for over 22 years and I learned a few things about coding that I can add to my resume. Lots of fun to learn and play.
For the cost of the workbook, it was a waste of money.having such a limited number of computer problems...I'm sure it was less than ten. The book wad fine and as expected, but the workbook seemed like an afterthought to add a quick twenty dollars onto the cost of the book as well.
My husband and grandson go thru the book chapter by chapter when he visits us on the weekends. They both enjoy it. My grandson is 8 years old and loves the computer. So, he is learning all about coding and how to do things he didn't know about.
This book skips a few steps with regards to setting up Python - but if you can fill in the holes it's a fun book for your kids to learn programming.
My son carried this book around for a week solid! Great book recommended by our computer teacher.
