This is such a fun story to read, with a great message and cute illustrations. Penny is a city girl and is spending the summer with her grandparents in the country. Not much a country girl, Penny makes fast friends and realizes there's a lot to love about being in the country. She learns to appreciate beautiful horse her grandparents got, along with the new kitten he finds.Though my children are a bit younger, my daughter absolutely loved this story. This is a great story for horse lovers and young readers.
My daughter, who hates to read, loves this entire series. The font is large. That is important, since she has dyslexia.

My daughter loves horses and is in 1st grade so I wanted to get chapter books that were at her reading level, but also would be of interest to her in order to encourage her to read. The book is the right level according to the description from when I ordered it and it's a nice story. She loves it, so I do too!
I love these series. But most important that my son does. I got 40+ books and he loves to read them (usually it is not that easy to make him read). I got mix of 2-3-4 levels for the second grader, second level is too easy, but it creates some fun and he reads them with pleasure. Love it, I would recommend it.
What a great series-My first grader loves the entire series and they are at the perfect reading level for her --little challenging which is good. So glad I listened to the positive reviews. Highly rec. -- engaging stories I even enjoy and my 4 year old as well :)
My niece loves this series, so I naturally bought her several of these books for Christmas without even looking them over. She simply loved it, and was able to read more of it than I imagined. The print is good for children and the words are fairly simple. But the story is also interesting and contains a good moral. This book is perfect for the little girl who loves horses - and what little girl doesn't?
My daughter LOVES horses. Add that this is a "chapter book" and she was even more excited to read it. Her first chapter book (1st grade) was a big hit and she continues to read it
