I feel a little sheepish giving this 5 stars. Frankly, I don't much care for the Froggy series. Here's the truth, though - it doesn't matter what I think. My 5-year-old loves all the Froggy books, and they serve as great motivators for him to continue learning to read.I'd recommend this book over most of the other Froggy books. Froggy's misbehavior is (thankfully) not a major topic here, and the book conveys a useful lesson about doctors. Recommended.

Our family loves all the books in this series. We started with froggy gets dressed when my daughter was 2 and now she is 6. She was requesting more Froggy books. They are priced so good that we got her 6 more for her birthday and she loves them all!! Her dad and I enjoy reading them too! Great author and illustrations. Good for new readers too!

FRRROOOOOGGGYYYY!Froggy is a frog who goes on numerous adventures and this book talks about his adventure at the doctor's office. Froggy wakes up ready to go for the day because he doesn't have to go to school but he has to go to the doctor instead. This alarms Froggy because because he is not sure as to whether or not he has to get a shot so he becomes nervous about going to the doctor. Once he and his mom arrive at the office, all sorts of unfortunate events take place in Froggy's life. He falls of the bench, forgets to brush his teeth, hits the doctor in the eye and many other things take place. Froggy ends up having a good visit to the doctor's office and can't wait to go back to the doctor!I used this book in my third grade class for a summary lesson and the students absolutely loved it! They thought all of Froggy's unfortunate events were really funny and they could not stop laughing while I was reading the book. When they went to summarize the book for their assignment it proved to me that the story was easy for them to follow and they knew all the details. This story is also good for teaching prosody to students while keeping them entertained. I would highly recommend this book to any parent or teacher looking for a fun book to read to their kids!

You can't help but laugh at Froggy's "antics" in this story. Naturally, Froggy is nervous about his upcoming doctor's visit as he doesn't want to receive any shots. His mom says:"Now go get dressed--and don't forget to brushand put on clean underwear!"How many times have we said this to our own children! Of course Froggy, just like real children, forgets to brush his teeth and also forgets his underwear! OOPS! Once they get to the doctor's office, Froggy has a hard time sitting still and his paper airplane hits the doctor right in the eye! He "knocks" her out with his bad breath and when she checks his reflexes, up goes his foot right into her chin. The ending is hilarious as the doctor plays a trick on Froggy. My love/hate relationship with Froggy continues as our kids regularly take his books out of the library on a frequent basis!

My daughter loves "Froggy Gets Dressed," so I thought this would be a nice addition to our collection. It's horrible! Why on earth would a children's book show a doctor humiliating the patient (by practically falling on the floor over Froggy's bad breath), getting angry at him (when Froggy kicks her with his knee reflexes), and -- worst of all! frightening him (by pulling out a huge, scary syringe and saying "this is your shot....just kidding"). I didn't find this book the least bit cute, charming, or helpful.

"Froggy woke up. Hurray! he thought. No school today-it's my check-up day! I can get up late! But wait! Wait! What if the doctor wants to give me a shot?"And so begins Froggy's day to go to the doctor. Yeah, it's going to be a real adventure today...especially for the doctor! This is a fun book, one that's a good read for a youngster who is afraid of going to the doctor. In a funny manner, it shows the young reader that going to the doctor is not a terrible thing. The illustration work is quite good, and the bright colors will really catch a young reader's attention. I highly recommend it!

I love the Froggy book series. They are great fun to read to a small child. And they lend themselves very well to being read in funny voices for the different characters. (Some books are just really hard to do that with.)These aren't educational and they don't teach any valuable lessons. They are just fun. And that's perfectly fine for kids books as it makes reading fun and encourages kids to enjoy books. That's a good thing! The art is very colorful and the characters are playfully drawn as humanoid frogs.Froggy Goes to the Doctor is just okay though. It's my least favorite of the Froggy series just because of the story. Froggy hates going to the doctor and his visit on this day it just a disaster. Plus he's not very nice to the doctor. It's not intentional, but Froggy just comes off as obnoxious in this one.

I am much like another reviewer here (Nelson). I do not really care all that much for the froggy books myself, this one included. BUT...the kids all love them! I have yet to find one young child that did not what this and the other Froggy Book read to them over and over and over again. This, as the other reviewer pointed out, is what counts. I must say though that I found this particular book rather good in helping children understand the process of going to the doctor. Most of them do fear it, just like Froggy, and this work points out the fact that most of these fears are rather unnecessary. I like that. Recommend this one.
