I bought 3 of these Freddy the Frogcaster books for my granddaughter. This is her favorite. She's becoming interested in weather forecasting. This is a great learning tool for children. Freddy the Frog is a fun character and his story about joining a tornado tracker to find the tornado is interesting. After his story is told, the author writes a section of facts about tornadoes and gives practical advice on what to do if you find yourself in the path of one. I highly recommend this book.
A great way to introduce your children or grandchildren to how the weather works (ages 4-8)......cute illustrations too. I think knowledge is power and since some children are afraid of thunder and storms this will give them information to help them understand all about the weather. And the parents can learn something too. I have bought all four of Janice Dean's weather books for my grandchildren.....which covers Tornados, Hurricanes, Blizzards and Forecasting the weather.
Once again we are back in Lily Pad with Freddy the Frogcaster, and this time dangerous weather in the form of strong storms and a possible tornado are headed towards them and their fellow frogs. This story really hit home when our family was faced with a funnel cloud last year, when Daddy looked out and saw a twister, we were herded to the cellar and our eight year old is still frightened. Lucky for us it didnât funnel down on us, but hit a deserted area near us, now we live in Upstate NY and tornados rarely hit our area. That being said I lived 2 hours east of here as a child and one went through out back yard. What delightful book this is, and we are reunited with dear frog friends, and our local radio station Frog News Network! Freddy is about to take a more active role in this book, and when Tad Polar invites Freddy to ride in his armored vehicle, storm truck, his parents reluctantly give permission. We follow Teddy and Tad as the skies darken, and pretty soon Tad shouts âHoly croaks, folks, thatâs a tornado!â This book brings weather alive and our friends are right in the middle of it.The back of the book is full of interesting facts and weather tidbits. There is even an EF scale, and what you should do during a warning. I asked if they had preparedness at school, and they said ânoâ, I hope to bring this to the schools attention!A book every parent should have and share with their youngsters, making weather fun and interesting.I received this book from the Publisher Regnery Kids, and was not required to give a positive review.
I ordered this book for my great grandson, I like the pictures, as they were very bright, and beautiful, that I hope will attract him, I would like him to get interested in "something" hoping this will be "it". I have not read the book, but hope he does. As it was a gift.
Another well written Froggie the Frogcaster Book. I bought a 4 book set for my Grand Daughter's, their School Libraries and the Town Libraries. I think they are that good. Teaches kids weather with cute stories and weather terms at their level.
I have been waiting for this book to finalize my collection of your series! My 1st graders love these books.! Since we live in Oklahoma, it's hard for them to understand all things weather especially not being scared of certain clouds. It's a good read and a good discussion starter.
I bought all the Freddy books because my grandson was terrified when we had a storm. He was afraid it would be a tornado. Our daughter lives in Orlando and he would be upset if he thought there would be a hurricane. I made him the family weather forecaster and told him to call us if there was going to weather we needed to know about in our area. He read all the books at one time except the one about tornados. His Mom is reading it with him to help him get over his fear. I think and he does too that the books are wonderful
What a fun book! So much attention to detail in both the story and illustrations. The story prompted lots of questions and curiosity from my kids - and then all their questions were answered with the extra info at the end of the book. Another great Freddy book from Janice Dean the Weather Machine!
