Great book. Beautiful pictures. I love how it goes through the seasons. My 2 year old brings it around the house with her, and tries to read it. I like this author and illustrator, we have many of her other books and they are all equally wonderful.
My daughter will be 2 in January, and this book has been her favorite book to read before bedtime since we got it 3 months ago. She choses it first over all others. She now can recite much of the text ("Listen, listen... what's that sound? Insects singing all around. Chirp Chirp, Churr, Churr, Buzz, Buzz, Whirr, Whirr") - it is very catchy and the rhymes are beautiful - they flow across the pages, and are fun to recite and hear. We have all of Alison Jay's books- simply beautiful illustrations. Highly recommended.
I love this book, there is so much to view in the illustrations, eveny by 1 year old daughter is in love with this book. She will pull it out from the shelf and bring it over for me to read to her, she loves to point at pictures of things she knows and practice her words. It is a beautiful piece of art!
Very cute book the illustrations are excellent. This illustrator is fantastic and quite smart. Very good book for language development especially because there's so much information in the illustrations.
This is a beautiful book, to look at and to listen to! My children love it and it is a great way to help them learn about the seasons. I highly recommend it!
My 4 yr old has loved this book since he was 18 months; it's a favorite in our house! I highly recommend this for boys and girls alike. I love Allison Jay's illustrations and Gershator did a great job writing. It's rhythmic and poetic with fun sounds that made my son laugh out loud every time we read it when he was little. Fun for me too!
We are on our second copy of this book and enjoy it just as much as ever. The book has so many layers to it that it has held my kids' interest for years. Initially, they love the sound of the words- the buzzing, chirping and generally liveliness of creatures in the book. Later down the line they ask questions about the pictures and the seasons. It can also be a great way to incorporate counting. Overall, it is a great children's book. Think ages 2-5.
My kids like it, but it is nowhere close to the amazing "I Took the Moon for a Walk." Allison Jay's illustrations are wonderful as always, but Gershator's children's poetry is often quite weak and forced ... I.e. "gone" and "come" do not rhyme, which is fine ... just don't pretend they do. 5 stars for the illustration. 1-2 stars for the writing.
