These "The Night Before..." books are some of my 4 year olds favorites - and as a parent, they are a good night-before-nerves book, no matter what the occasion. My Birthday in particular is a better fit for the night before the actual party because that is what the book is specifically about. It gives the child a glimpse into what to expect the next day - we used Birthday for the excitement of the day ahead, and we used Preschool for calming nerves about the impending morning rush/unexpectedness of the new school day. Would highly recommend this series.

A young boy is very excited. Soon he will celebrate another birthday. There will be balloons and party favors, along with gifts from friends. For him, its not a holiday but it is the best day of the year. When that day finally arrives and the house is all decorated a giant mishap occurs. All of the ice cream and some balloons have become a disaster on the kitchen floor. But there is no need to panic.Mom checked in the freezer.“We don't have any more.”“Come on, birthday kid,” said Dad.“Let's go to the store.”Away to the market, we made a mad dash, grabbed cartons of ice cream, and checked out in a flash. Will the birthday boy and his dad make it home in time for the party? You'll have to read this delightful story to see.Author Natasha Wing has created a wonderful series that young children can enjoy. I own a few of the 'Night Before' books. The wording is rhythmical and cute and I love the pictures. They are bright and have cute animals and events happening in the background. After reading each page we stop and discuss the pictures. My grand-kids love them!

I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.

I am very happy with the content of the book. My granddaughter loved it. The thing I was very unhappy about was that it came in such a large envelope that the book was all bent and looked horrible. I bought it for my granddaughter for part of her birthday present and it looked like an old book I had pulled from the garbage. I was very, very unhappy about that. I tried to flaten it out but it was all creased and bent.
