I first bought the Biscuit books to read to my oldest granddaughter when she was 3 years old. She loved the simple stories, the cute pictures, Biscuit's funny antics, and the sweet underlying themes. Now she is 6 years old and she can read the Biscuit books to me! They are perfect books for early readers, children in Kindergarten and early First Grade. I imagine my granddaughter will outgrow these books by second grade, but we enjoyed them together for over 3 years and now I will use them with my younger grandchildren in the same way. The stories are fairly short which makes them good for bedtime reading and manageable for a child just learning to read. Biscuit is a puppy who makes children laugh while teaching them about kindness and art of making friends.
These are such sweet books and wonderful for beginning readers. My daughter feels so proud and confident when she reads these. The pictures are super cute too. This book in particular we love because WE LOVE the library too and go at least twice a week! We will continue to add Biscuit books to our collection at home.
This is a review done my my little sister Josie. :)I like that the library in his book has read to a pet day. We are allowed to bring our dog on our bookmobile. The librarians Miss Lydia and Miss Kara give our dog Clyde biscuits on the bookmobile. I think it is funny that in this book biscuit finds his book at the library to read. The words in the book are really simple and I think little kids who are just learning to read will love this book. I liked finding all the pets in the pictures. I like Biscuit books and I think this one is great!*NOTE* We got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
~ borrowed from LibraryBISCUIT LOVES THE LIBRARY is at the early First Grade Reading Level. There are 137 words."It's Read to a Pet Day!" So girl and Biscuit are off to the library. The library environment is shown as well as other animals that can be pets. It's hard for me not to like this book as it is so Library Friendly.Besides doing it's service as a primer for newish readers, this book can be used with younger children to show them what to expect when they visit a library. In the artwork we see book baskets, books on shelves, various reading areas, as well as puppets and earphones. The girl points out that the library has audio materials so they can listen to stories. It's a bit strange to see a fireplace at the library, but I'm sure some library somewhere has one. The only other thing you might have to explain is that they are unlikely to encounter pets. (Though our library does have a good sized turtle.
OK--I know this is a kids book but when I read it to the kinder class they had one concern. Why is it that all of the animals (except for the dogs) are caged up while the dogs are just running around without even a leash?Little minds want to know.....
This is a great book for young readers. Especially ones that are dog lovers. A little more challenging then some of the other books that we have.
Charming book about the ever lovable Biscuit. Our four year old loves reading it to us over and over again.
This is an excellent book series and when you have a good named Biscuit , it is all the more whorth while.
