My five-year old grandson is obsessed with the Wild Kratts. While he remembers everything he hears on the show and does not hesitate to share his knowledge, reading aloud is a different story. He loves being read to, but he does not want to read to us. I had high hopes that âWild Kratts Wild Sea Creatures: Sharks, Whales, and Dolphins!â would help break down his resolve not to read aloud. The text of this book is interesting and informative. With the exception of Great White Sharks, each different creature is discussed on two facing pages. The print is large and easy to see; there is not so much text that it overwhelms a child reading the book. The illustrations look much like the animation from the âWild Krattsâ television show.âWild Kratts Wild Sea Creatures: Sharks, Whales, and Dolphins!â is an excellent book with which to encourage young readers. My grandson has been willing to try reading this book aloud. It features some of his favorite PBS characters; it is short, but not too short; and, Martin and Chris âActivate Creature Powerâ!
My five-year-old is a shark fanatic and a fan of the Wild Kratts show, so this book was a home run for him. The book is simple enough for him to read some of it on his own and the information is simple and digestible. I also like that it covers other sea creatures in addition to the sharks. Like the show, it's also got a sense of humor, so it's fun to read out loud. I highly recommend to anyone who has kids who like the show or just like animals.
This reader is interesting and educational. It combines fiction because they use their âcreature powersâ and a lot of non-fiction as it is full of animal facts. It isnât a story with bad guys like in the show. The book is a collection of information about sea creatures. This is a level 2 reader, but it is an advanced level 2 reader due to content and length. For example, it has advanced words like âordinaryâ and âtentaclesâ. It is 32 pages long and a challenge for a child that can read some of the simpler readers alone. This book can be a read-aloud until the child is ready to read on his or her own.The pictures look exactly like those in the show. The illustrations are clear and help the children make observations and be able to understand the text. Overall, this is an excellent book.
This book is great for Wild Kratt fans, but I am disappointed that the sharks are portrayed as aggressive and angry. As someone who works in marine biology, sharks are greatly misunderstood and these illustrations do not help the stigma the animal has. My daughter kept asking what the sharks were so mad about.
My granddaughters really like the Wild Kratt's cartoons and were super excited to receive these books for Christmas. Along with reading them the books, we are able to work on word recognition too. Fast shipping and good price!.
love these books, great price, kids walks away learning something, parent feels good about reading, then one day child reads themselves, price is fantastic-keep making many book-different subjects-really enjoy learning along with my daughter
As soon as this book came in the mail, my 6 year old daughter just had to read it to me! Over the past few hours she has also read it to herself another 4 times! Easy to follow text with scenes from the wild Kratt's! I also love that she learned about a new animal ( yeti crab)!
I love Wild Kratts. the story is simple enough for a strong, beginner reader with short sentences and mostly basic words. it also gives good intro to sea life. kids love to read it and they also love the pictures. wild Kratts are great learning tools for kids.
