I work in the children's department at a bookstore, and I read a copy of this book shortly after we received it a few days ago. I swear, I cried. My coworkers and I have all showed this book to each other and to any customers who will listen. I had one customer who came in who was looking for a book for her grandson. I suggested this book, and she said no, saying that she only buys paperbacks because hardcovers are too expensive. I told her that she needed to at least read it because it was so beautiful. I left her alone, and she found me a few minutes later with tears in her eyes, thanking me for showing her this book. She ended up buying two copies. This book is about friendships, love, knowing when to let go and when to hang on. I'm still in college and I don't have any kids yet, but I've already bought my copy, just so I'll have it ready when I have my own little ones someday. I love this book.
My boyfriend and I were wandering through Toys R Us when we found this book, and flipped through it just for the heck of it. We go to colleges 7 hours apart, and by the end of the story, we were standing there sobbing like babies. This book isn't really just for children; it's appropriate for anyone that is missing someone.Besides that fact, the book was adorable, well written for a children's book, and the art was beautiful.
This is the story of Penguin and Pinecone's friendship. My kids are 11, 7, and 4, and they all love this book. My 4 year old boy "reads" it to himself all the time. I'm quite sure they'll have me knitting scarves for all the trees in my backyard this winter. :)
This is most amazing children's book of all time. The story is beautiful and emotional and really tells the tale of true friendship. Get this book, stop thinking about and get it! You will love it. I read to my 4 old regularly and its in his top 5 books.
When my friend told me, "Get the Penguin and pine cone" for my friends' kid's 1st birthday, I thought I had to go get the stuffed animal and attach pine cones. This series is awesome. I almost cried at the end of this book. As an outdoor lover, the adventure one is 2nd favorite.
We love this book! It is so sweet and simple, but has a wonderful strong message for kids. It's one of our favorites because it encourages being thoughtful, kind and loving. And it helps kids understand that being sad about certain things in life is natural. We love it!
Love the Penguin books. Not sure if my 12 month old understands them, but the stories are quirky and fun. Penguin is quite possibly the sweetest bird on the planet. I adore him. He makes me want to try knitting.
Very sweet story about friendship and sacrifice; my 6 year old grandson loved this book so much from the school library that I bought him one he could keep. Very good for the younger set and beginning readers as well.
