This is a wonderful book for children just learning how to read. The illustrations glow and pop off the page! A wonderful book for all!
My 4 year old son LOVES this book! It's great for bedtime. He laughs when we see the animals with their sunglasses on watching the stars. Definitely recommend this book!
I did not notice the "optimized for larger screens" notation so every other page is blank. The book is cute and typical Margaret Wise Brown but not great for a standard Kindle. Will need to see if this purchase can be salvaged on my iPad.
This book is much, much simpler than the other Step 1 books such as "Drop it, Rocket!" or "Sleepy Dog". Think two-word phrases. Not a flaw, per se, but just a warning in case you're looking for more.
My students in Japan, ages 1 and 2 years old, LOVE this book. I was really surprised. I thought the paper-cut-out artwork wouldn't grab them, but it did. The vocabulary was basic, but things they knew and could point to in the pictures. I turned this into a dialogue book because I found the sentences weren't enough. But even a month after we finished our work on this book, 2 of my students were still carying this in their book bags every day because they loved this book so much!
Very cute book. My daughter is in Kindergarten and this is one of the first books we got her to read. She knew most of the words and I like that there aren't many words on each page so it doesn't take forever for her to read.
Its a book about different colors, and although it is a cute story, my Kindle does not have color so it really takes away from the story. It has the same issue with a lot of blank pages, as do the other children's books I have on my kindle. Blank pages arent a huge issue- just more of a nuisance than anything.
I Like Stars -Lexile:br"I Like Stars" by Margaret Wise Brown and Joan Paley is a whimsical tale of different stars. From red stars to blue stars, this relaxing story reminds me of Ms. Brown's better-known title "Good Night Moon." Indeed the two books would make the start of a relaxing bedtime routine for a young child. The illustrations by Joan Paley are a perfect match for the story and early readers are guided through the story, with predictable text and pictorial clues to encourage young readers to master many color words such as:• red• yellow• blue• greenAs well as an opportunity to practice decoding words with "ight" ending sound such as:• bright• light• nightMargaret Wise Brown, well known for throwing a challenging word in or two to keep her readers on their toes, also includes the word "straight" which provides a little challenge for young readers as they learn to blend vowel sounds. As my daughter would often remind me, when she was much, much younger, "When two vowels go a walking the first one does the talking."Margaret Wise Brown was one of those incredible authors whose stories touched the hearts of so many generations, and one can almost imagine a young Margaret looking out at the night sky as they read this story.
