I love these "Once upon a Time Saints" books. I have purchased all of them for my 6 year old daughter and she reads them all the time. I enjoy reading them too.The stories really bring various saints to life and inspire you. It is a great way to see the remarkable faith of those who have come before us and learn a little about them. After she had read them she said she wanted to be a saint as well. I figure that's a good goal for all of us. :) We also find them very helpful for choosing what saint to dress up as for the All Saints Day party each year.My only complaint is that sometimes the stories or legend may be stretched a little too far. Like the story of Martha (from the Martha, Mary and Lazarus of the Bible) ends with Mary not being at the tomb for the raising of Lazarus and instead being at home cooking for those who return which, the author jokingly says, is another miracle. While this is amusing, it seems more likely that Mary was at the tomb with Martha when their brother was raised. While it doesn't say for sure either way, I thought this stretch by the author was a bit too much. All that said, I still recommend the books very highly!

The news is full of such depravity and children are exposed to so much trash culture. It is hearenting to find books that are both entertaining and provide examples of the finest aspects of human nature. The stories in this book fit the bill.

If you can only buy one book of saints for kids, this is the one to get. These stories are captivating with some dialogue...much more interesting than an entry in a reference book. There are a few pictures for younger readers to enjoy. It contains the basic saints such as St. Patrick, St. Nicholas, St. Lucy, St. Joseph, and more so that when the rest of the world is having their secular celebrations, you can explain what all of this celebration is REALLY about.

A novel way to pass on the faith to the next generation. I thought St. Christopher had been dropped. I was delighted to find I was wrong

The stories are well written and very interesting! I love to read one story in the morning. It is a great way to start my day!

i highly recommend it for all Catholic families with young children and teenagers - very well done and beautifully illustrated

I love the author's voice. Once you understand her rhythm, the stories are filled with such depth that even my 3 year old sat still to hear the story of St. Martin de Porres and St. Thomas Aquinas.

good book
