An excellent book to introduce children to the life of a godly man who's life of extremes held more excitement than anyone unfamiliar with it would ever expect. This book spent very little time on St. Francis' quiet life of contemplation, but did a phenominal job of showing how he moved from a man focused on wealth and war to one moved by God to seek peace and harmony. His joy in the end practically sparkled off the pages.The illustrations were crisp and well done too. It's a beautiful book.I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in giving their kids (or themselves!) a real life example of a person whose life was radically changed by knowing God.
I went to our local Catholic bookstore to shop for Christmas gifts for my Godchildren. Out of all the books there on Saint Francis, this was the clear winner for me. The writing was clear, beautiful and child appropriate, but not pandering. The book is a little long for most kids, you'll probably want to break it up into multiple sessions, but it really covers a ton of episodes in Saint Francis's life.
I was pleased with the booklet. However, I tried to send it to Alberta Canada and could not use their zip code number which is TOB OXO. I sent it to Alberta under the Providence. Consequently, I had it sent to me and then had to pay postage again to send to their home. Bobbie Axe
