I purchased this book for my son after he finished the book about Brother Andrew in the same series (Christian Heroes: Then & Now). All the books in this series give kids a wonderful introduction and overview of the lives of those who have dedicated their lives to serving God.I had read The Hiding Place this year, and after discussing it with my family, my son told me he wanted to read it. I was a bit hesitant, since there were some parts of the book which might be a little traumatic or descriptive for a young reader. So I was thrilled to find Corrie ten Boom: Keeper of the Angels' Den.This book was perfect. It told the story of Corrie ten Boom in an age-appropriate, but still accurate manner. My son was amazed at all Corrie and her family did to help others, and all they were willing to give up in order to do what they felt God wanted them to do.I highly recommend this book, and others in the Christian Heroes series.
"There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper." This is the message that Corrie ten Boom brought to the world after she went through the horrors of Nazi prison and death camp. This book will inspire you and teach young and old that God can do extraordinary and marvelous things even in bleak and terrifying surroundings.Corrie Ten Boom was an ordinary watchmaker's daughter when her family was arrested for helping Jewish people escape the Nazi's. They were taken to prison and suffered greatly under the hands of their captors. Yet Corrie and her sister always looked towards God and where thankful for all of the blessings he gave them, such as a patch of blue sky, a hidden Bible, the women they read the Bible too. This book tells the story of Corrie and how she survived the war and went on to help others by telling them about God's love and forgiveness. Corrie learned a lot from her prison experience, but most of all, Corrie learned that by leaning on God, she can share God's love and forgiveness to all, even to her enemies and those who hurt her.
This book, as do many of the Benge's biographies, begins the first chapter in the middle of the story to capture the reader's attention. The second chapter goes back to Corrie's younger days and shows the reader of her background and heart for service. This biography is a great introduction to Corrie Ten Boom for children or those unfamiliar with her life. If you are already familiar with her story, read "The Hiding Place", and "A Prisoner and Yet...".
This magnificently written Christian biography book is perfect for a book report, particularly for a student who attends Christian private school or who is homeschooled (as my 13 year old son). Corrie ten Boom truly went through hell on earth just to satisfy God in Heaven; when it is my time to go, she is one of the many individuals I would love to meet when I get there! Should you read this book, prepare your heart (and perhaps a hankie). My opinion, not enough stars to rate it! :-)
I can't say enough for the YWAM biography series. What a great investment for the lives of our grandchildren. I'm so grateful the authors have invested their lives and time making this resource available. Don't hesitate. Both you and your children/grandchildren will love these books. Well done. Easy read. Brings to life the heros of the Christian faith.
What a brave woman and inspiration! I have read most of the other books about Corrie but this one was a bit more informative than the others. It was well written and so inspiring for every day living. She tried never to complain and was so brave in the face of such evil.
This is such a great book. The material is difficult, but so good for adults and children alike. We all need to know what happens when we allow a little bit of evil into our lives. In the time of Hitler, people became desensitized. Jews were looked at as less than animals. When all human life isn't deemed as important, this can happen again.
In a day when disobeying government meant imprisonment or death, the TenBoom family led by a godly father helped God's chosen people disregarding what it might cost them. After saving many Jews alive, the TenBooms were imprisoned. Father and elder sister died. Miss Corrie went on through much suffering and lived, being delivered by the miraculous hand of God. She spent the rest of her life telling of God's grace. Need encouragement? Feeling common? Miss Corrie's story will blow your low view of common away. When our focus is on the right thing or person, everything is different.
