His characterm, perseverance, and endurance are a challenging example for all who would obey the call to bring the gospel to the nations.

I read the Eric Liddle story (Chariot's of Fire hero) and all the other books in this series this summer. I can't begin to tell you how inspirational the lives of these people are. The one on Gladys Allward is unbelievable. The things these people accomplished were amazing. The books are easy, quick reads and are great for read alouds to children. These authors also have a series of biographies of famous Americans (George Washington, Harriett Tubman, etc that are excellent. Good job for placing this book up on the web page.

A good story of a faithful Christ's servant. However after reading this book I'm still full of questions, like what shaped his faith, and the relationship between God and him in the last 2 years in the prison camp. If the author can include more about what he thought about God, people will know better what's inside him - the strength that completely surrenders him from the beginning to the end.

This is the true story of Eric Liddell who was made famous in the film Chariots of Fire, about his running in the Olympics and winning a gold medal. The film has many inaccuracies, but the book is wonderful. Liddell died in a concentration camp in China (brain tumor) during WWII while serving as a missionary. This is a children's book, but I enjoyed it as light reading one afternoon.

These authors are amazing in keeping things simple but making the story come alive for adults and older children. A 4th or 5th grader should be able to read this story, and any from these authors, as well as adults. It is important to keep the memories of Eric and all of the others of the "Heroes" autobiographies alive! These are the people who went through the very difficult times and walked faithfully with Christ. Great is their reward in heaven!

The hero of this biography won the 400 meter face at the Paris Olympics for. England. He followed his parents as a missionary to China. He became a prisoner of war during the Second World War and died in prison of a brain tumor. At once a heart warming and heart breaking story. every boy of the age of ten should read it. Tom Z

inspiring story about a man like Moses...Hebrews 11:25, 26 "He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward."

I was told this book was a uniquely interesting story about a man dedicated to his missionary work in Chine. He was also a college athlete in sports and won many awards. I found it to be very interesting and well written.

Brought up in Siao Chang, Northern China, Eric had a great life with his family whose parents were missionaries. At 6 years old it was time to head back to Scotland on furlough for the first time in his life. From there it was time for boarding school, followed by college where he took an interest in running and surprised everyone in 1924 by winning the Gold Medal in the 400 meters! Not overtaken by his fame, Eric had his eyes set on a higher goal and returned to China as a teacher in 1925. What happened when war came with the Japanese invasion in WWII?Read this incredible, not always pleasant but real and challenging story. Suitable for the whole family, we read this during family devotions. God can take an ordinary person and change them into an extraordinary person for HIM!Eric Liddell - 1902 to 1945
