I purchased this book for my 7 year-old to read, but I was disappointed in it.1. It's written in verse--and not *good* verse. I would have appreciated this book so much more if it had been written in good-quality prose instead of verse. I don't even want to read it aloud to her because of this (I'm not opposed to poetry, but....)2. The illustrations are kind of meh.3. The print isn't exactly small, but...it feels very distracting--like there's a lot of it on one pageI had very high hopes for this book, but they were, sadly, not achieved. I've tucked this book away on the off chance that my daughter may someday want to read it. In the meantime, I'll introduce her to Amy Carmichael some other way.
We love the Heroes series and this book is the perfect read aloud for younger kids. My 6 & 8 yr olds enjoyed learning about a missionary's experiences. It is a good length and well written; my kids didn't lose interest.
I love the way the book rhymes and inspires children and adults to think about what God would want them to do with their lives.
LOVE this book! it's one giant poem that my 5 year old loved. We've been studying India and Amy Carmichael and this a great summary of her life and mission!
I thought it would be a thicker book instead of one so small and few pages. However, it is a wonderful resource to introduce Amy to young hearts and minds.
