I have several of these Barefoot Books! My students love them. They are very affordable, especially since they come with a CD. Also, there are versions of ALL of these books free on YouTube. You can create a playlist and show it on a Smart Board, great for end of the day while dismissing students. If you don't have a Smart Board, (parents) you can view them on your phone or on iPad.
This is a wonderful book for preschool aged children. The text is very simple and asks the same question on each page; "What did you see?" My kids love to say what they see on each page, there are so many animals on every page, and that allows the children to all "find" several animals. My kids adore this book, each page is an adventure with all of the colorful pictures. We love it!
The story (song) is catchy...the pictures are well drawn...but it is the details of each page that really make reading this fun. My 3 year old grandson LOVES to go through every page. We have fun asking silly questions about what he sees on each one almost as much as we enjoy the story itself. This series is a delight.
As a special education teacher of children with autism, this book is great! The kids recognize and enjoy the repetition, love the animal sounds, and dance to the beat. For kids who can't always talk, they can recognize this tune and the tunes and words to all of the Barefoot Books!
We checked this book out of the library and then purchased one when we could not renew the library's copy yet again. Our two-and-a-half year old daughter asks for it every night. The illustration is stunning. There is a wealth of visual interest and information on every page -- new animals to find (and new questions to ask) for many readings. The "What do you see" question in each setting (jungle, mountain, river) encourages her to point out and name or ask the name of everything on the page. And as a parent, I have not tired of the repeated reading of this favorite book.
My one year old loves the singalongs of barefoot books. I have bought several of them and am very happy with my purchases. I got my son hooked on to the singalongs and now he wants to read the books and look at the pictures too! Great way to get your toddler started on books.
I have heard children singing with this book for several years and couldn't wait to get this to share with my first grandchild; at 2 1/2 years old, she loved it!! We would be playing, riding in the van or taking a walk and she would want to sing it. I love that she loves it as much as I do!
Run girl, run, The animals are after you! This is a interesting book, nicely illustrated with pretty, eye captivating pictures. It is popular in early childhood classrooms. It is a about a little girl who is chased by all sorts of jungle animals, one by one. I don't care for the psychology of this particular book for young children, especially girls. It is the stuff that panic attacks and nightmares are made of. The little girl is chased, panic stricken through the jungle by wild animals. How did a book like this become so popular in early childhood classrooms????
