My 2 year old son likes the "Clifford the Small Red Puppy" series so I bought this book. It's a very cute book that teaches simple opposites such as big and small, asleep and awake. The book does this by comparing Clifford and his friend, another dog.What bothered me though was that the other dog was referred to throughout the book as merely Clifford's friend. It sounded unnatural, and lazy on the author's part not to provide a name for the other dog. Any name would have been better than "Clifford's friend".
First of all, Clifford is a great character. He is cute and red. How can you forget him? Anyway, this book is a simple, clear presentation of a difficult concept. Clifford is last, his friend is first. Clifford is small, his friend is big. Clifford is inside, his friend is outside. Get the picture? I did.
My 12 month old daughter loves all of the Clifford puppy board books, including this one. The pictures are bright, they are easy for her to hold, and there is just enough text to keep her attention.
My son loves Clifford, we read these stories daily before going to sleep, it's educational at the same time, he began to say full sentences after reading Clifford stories for several times.
Cute book, clearly illustrated the concept of opposites. Short enough to add as one of the bedtime books.
