Love this cute little book. It is a holiday favorite for many of my day care kids. We say the rhyme so often that they memorize it. We at a few hand gestures and sound effects to make it more fun. Even the babies like the repetition of the book and they can handle this book because it is a board book.
What an adorable book! I had read it before, years ago, and finally bought one for my kids. It's a great Halloween book without being too spooky for the little ones. And, best of all, it is a quick read for those kids who can't sit still long (like my 18 month old).
My 2 year old looks at this book over and over again, pointing out everything in the pictures. He loves when I read it to him with hand motions too. My preschoolers love this book for fall season during circle time.
What a great book for children! This book has been around for a while...my son is 39 and when he was 5 years old, had to memorize it for his class. It was no problem. He loved it so much he went around the house reciting it all the time.I had the opportunity to buy it for my grandchildren so recently purchased a new copy of the book for them. The illustrations are darling and go so well with the story without frightening small children. Get this little book for the small children you know. You'll be so glad you did!
A nice addition to my for classroom use library. I am an elementary music teacher always on the lookout for books of songs, to help me teach the songs with visual stimulation and words for students to see and learn. This is a nice sturdy book which I bought used but still has many years of use left.
The illustrations are fantastic. Whatever medium (pastel? chalk?) the illustrator used, the illustrations are beautifully rendered. The classic kid's rhyme is altered from other versions, but makes more sense (There are witches in the air / Good folk beware!). My kids love pointing out all the little details in each illustration.I've bought an extra copy to save for posterity, so my kids can read this version to their kids. Yes, I like the illustrations THAT much.
The complementary colors of royal blue and orange really "make" this book, and the figures are large enough for young children to see clearly. My daughters were introduced to the poem in first grade, and I just had to buy the book for my little grandson as part of his Halloween treat this year.
Fun little book, especially near halloween. My boys (21 months and 3.5 years) both like it. It is SHORT. Unless your kids are already tired, expect to be reading another book before you can get them to sleep.
