I purchased a number of these books to read with my granddaughter. I remembered them from when I was a little girl. Fast and fun reads with information that appeals to children. I remember them in the school library in their orange covers. As a mother, I found my children enjoyed reading them as much as I did when I was young. One son read every one in the school library. So when my granddaughter was assigned a biographic book report in third grade, I bought one of these....I don't even remember the first we read. The point is, she was hooked. She looked at the list of available books and made her own lists of the ones she wanted to read. I would recommend them for readers and especially for "reluctant readers." They are classics and almost all children enjoy them. There are so many different ones that it is like choosing a new kitten from the litter...it's hard to decide which one you want to take home.

I am glad we got these series of books on "Childhood of Famous americans"All of them are good and very inspiringMy 9 year old has completed 10 of them and shares stories with meamazing

All of my readers (6 so far) have absolutely loved this series. We have collected many of the books, but there are a few that we still need, so this one made its way into my happy boy's Easter basket. He was thrilled and started reading it right away. Then his sister had to have her turn and so on. This particular son has been a very hesitant reader, but these books have turned him on to reading and for that I am a grateful mommy!

This book was exhilarating, however, it wasn't really a cliff-hanger. It captured my interest in Samuel Clemens--Mark Twain. I had no clue that there was a town called Florida, Missouri (I'm from the state of Florida). This is a good book for a book report for school (5th grade).
