I have bought almost all the books that are published under the name Dover little activity books. My 4 years old son likes carrying them around and working on them all the time. We have a few in the car that keeps him engaged during our long morning and afternoon commutes and they really help him improve fine motor skills as well as being a practice for the alphabet.For those who are not familiar with these activity books: They are pocket size black/white activity books that consist of repetitive tasks depending on the book. Dot connection with numbers or letters (like this one). mazes, hidden pictures, spot the differences are the major categories and each book has one of these categories. There are sub categories depending on the concept. For example this one is animals which means all dot connections will reveal an animal picture, it can be transportation, outer space etc...For less than $1.5 this is a great book to help your child spend quality time. They are not very difficult tasks so that it further encourages him for spending more and more time with the books. I will probably end up buying the whole set and then buy them again for my younger one..
I had to take a star away for 2 reasons.One it is not the size of a regular coloring book. I guess I assumed it would be so I just wanted others to be aware. It is a good size for a mom to keep in her purse so that's a plus.There are many pages and the letters are clear and big enough to see.Two it was it shipped with a heavier item and it got all crumbled up. Hopefully I can get it straighten out with a heavy book.All that being said I think my son will enjoy it.
Not only is this a fun book but educational as well. We are very pleased with this little book that is chocked full of interesting animals and a great way to enforce the learning of the alphabet. The children love them.
This book is in black and white and it's SMALL - about the size of an adult hand - finger tip to palm. I intended to use this for a road trip, but not sure given its size my kiddos will even want to do it without straining . 62 pages of activities and the remaining pages are the answer key.
These are perfect for my preschooler to learn her alphabet. My only two small complaints are 1. I wish you could tear out the pages 2. The book is very small 3x5 which makes it a little difficult for my four year old to draw lines in. It has been a life saver on road trips and it restaurants so that's a good note to the small size.
We love these Dover books for road trips and restaurants. My 6 yr old gets a great sense of accomplishment from this particular one. He uses his knowledge of the alphabet to complete an animal picture, and he loves animals! He is always excited to show me a completed page.
I usually love the compact size of Dover workbooks but this is way too small . It might work better for an older preschooler who has mastered fine motor skills. I'm not going to give it to my 3 yr old Grandson for another yr because there are several more age appropriate , 8x11 ones that I have purchased on . This one is about 3"x 4 " if that. ABC DOT TO DOT is a great concept in a more traditional size book. The small size of the book makes it awkward and therefore I'm thinking a 3 yr old would move on to something else he could master in a reasonable amt of time for that age.
I have bought tons and tons of the $1.50 Dover sticker books over the last couple of years to entertain my son in restaurants, church and long car trips. The sticker books have gotten a little too easy for him at the grand old age of 4 so I tried a couple of the maze and dot to dot books. He loves them! I like that this dot to dot is follow the alphabet rather than follow the numbers, makes for a nice change.
