If you like the challenge of staring at a picture and finding all the hidden objects then this book is going to blow your mind. There's some easy stuff to find in these incredibly detailed European looking medieval era pictures of castles and small villages and some really hard things to find too. Adults will struggle to find them all let alone children but the challenge is why these are so good. If you think of the detail used in movie animations such as those by DreamWorks and hit pause, then you've got a good resemblance of what these illustrations look like. Then throw in the hidden things aspect and it's even better. My only criticism would be the consistency of the illustrations in difficulty and even effort. The initial On a Scary Night image is brilliant with a castle in the background and trees and rocks in the foreground with a village in between down a path. However the next one Beneath a Scary Moon is simply a moon, basically a white circle with clouds and three bats. This isn't anywhere near as impressive visually and it's pretty easy to find all the hidden animals and objects in the moon. In a Scary Town returns to the quality and challenge of the first image with it also being pretty difficult to find some objects. The next images go inside the town to a street, which is somewhere in between for difficulty and impressiveness in the drawing. We then visit a hill where the castle is seen up close along with some very detailed well drawn trees with hidden stuff in them. Then the remained we go inside the castle to various rooms and inside a wardrobe like cupboard. These pages aren't as visually spectacular nor as hard to find the hidden objects.You're going to want this though simply for the brilliant detailed pages that are in here.
