The DK Readers Star Wars titles are superb, and this book is no exception. Blending interesting, yet straightforward writing with shots from the films, "Jedi Knight" will captivate your young reader if he or she is a Star Wars fan. This book is chock-a-block full of action shots from the various Star Wars movies, and its length is perfect. Not too short for a child who is beginning to get good at reading to fly through, but not too long to put one off who is just starting to push his/her ability.I've been really happy with this title from the DK Readers series, and highly recommend it. My son has really enjoyed going over it again and again, and what's best, the pictures and story work together to make him want to really understand everything written on the page.Highly recommended!
This gives up every plot point in Star Wars (obi wan dying in duel with vader) Empire (Sister, Anakin is Vader), and Revenge of the Sith (Obi Wan maimed Anakin making Vader).Unless your kindergardeners have already watch these movies intended for much older kids, you might want to skip these. The story is essentially just a Wikipedia plot summary with movie stills.
Any of the DK Readers are wonderful. My son, who is 5, can read pretty decent by himself. We ordered him some 2s and some 3s. He probably could have even read some 4s. What level you buy is dependent on the reading level of your child. The DK Reader recommendations on the reading levels are pretty spot on. We have enjoyed reading all of the Star Wars themes books with my son. Highly recommend any of those!May the force be with you as you read with your child!
My twin 6 year old sons love star wars! This book was a little advanced for them as 1st graders, but they enjoyed looking at the pictures and us reading it to them/helping them read it.
