I guess this is one of the best Tom Tierney's fashion history coloring books. Drawings are really well done and details are clear. Unlike some other Tierney's illustrations, these don't make an impression that they were drawn too quickly.Pages are thick enough for gentle watercoloring. The book contains 45 fashion illustrations from 1789 to 1815, including military dresses, Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Josephine, 4 outfits for children, special 4-page section of hairstyles, hats and fashion accessories, and much more.Buy it and enjoy!

This is my second Tom Tierney book. There are dates and an informative write-up under each drawing and he includes the colors of their day. I bought two and in one book I use my own felt pen color choices and in the other book I use the colors of his choosing. The paper is marvelous. It's thick enough so it doesn't bleed on through to the next page. I highly recommend it.

I own four of Tierney's coloring books. The Empire Fashions book is well drawn in terms of the clothing, but the people's proportions, especially the women, seem a bit off. I like the addition of pages of hairstyles and accessories, and the two page spread with the drawing of Napoleon crowning Josephine is good as it gives historical perspective to the book.

This book is for an adult, who enjoys coloring with colored pencils. Most of the designs are elaborate and a real education on what women once wore. The challenge is being a designer and coming up with different color combinations. It gives one a real appreciation for fashion designers. The artwork is back-to-back and the paper is smoother than most. There are 48 pages. I gave it 4 stars because I didn't care for the male costumes. However, most are featured with the women, as escorts. I really enjoyed this book, it is one of my favorites.

They were pretty. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but then, it's a coloring book. Taste is so subjective. Someone else might love this coloring book. The paper it's printed on is nice though. It works well with crayons, colored pencil, and I think ink pens too.

The women's clothing is exquisitely drawn with many details. There are a few too many drawings of men's clothes, which I find to be not nearly as interesting. There are many tiny details that I think would be difficult to color with anything other than colored pencils, so I haven't tried this one with crayons or markers.

I ordered this and 2 others for coloring books for my granddaughter who is very into fashions. I was very disappointed in how the pages are dark and the clothing are filled in, making it impossible to color. I would not call this a coloring book.

I just purchased these Dover COloring Books for my mother and she loves them. The detail is out of this world and the variety of colors you can use are only limited by your inagination. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
