I got this book for my now 5 year old for his 5th birthday. He is so excited to learn to play the harmonica, but the other books out there don't seem to be for his audience. This book is. It explains music theory and the how-to's of harmonica playing in easy to read (he reads), large print and with pictures. There is also a CD included so it effectively teaches all kinds of learners.I can't wait for him to open it and start with lesson 1! From looking at the book,I have confidence that he'll be able to pick it up and start right away.Yes, even a 5 year old can learn to play the harmonica with Progressive Harmonica Method for Young Beginners.Update:He has had the book for a little less than a year, and is playing the harmonica so well. He bends notes, and can play pretty much any song he wants--not just from the book! This book provided the basic information he needed to learn to play the harmonica without any help from me. Awesome.
I gave this book to my 7 year old granddaughter along with a really nice harmonica for Christmas and reading through it the book and it has a CD with it seems like it would be a great learning tool but I haven't heard much from my granddaughter.I know she keeps harmonica and a book in her drawer so her other sisters won't bother it but with her dancing and reading and school I don't think she's actually taking the time to practice with the harmonica
