I wanted this book to expose my 15 month old to the sounds of different instruments. It only has 5, and the "buttons" are too hard for him to press and it is very LOUD. I like the samples of each instrument however, and he enjoys listening to it.
I bought this book for my one year old a couple of months ago. She absolutly loves it but as another reviewer said, the buttons to make the sound are very hard to press and my daughter can't do it on her own. So each time she wants to listen to the music, I have sit with her. I wish they had made the buttons easier to press for little fingers ! But I still give this 4 stars because even after three months of listening to the violin and piano about 6-8 times a day, I still enjoy the music :-)
My son really loves playing with this book. It only has a couple instruments in it -- guitar, piano, trumpet, violin, and drum set -- and the sound snippets go off really easily, so it gets pretty old for parents to listen to very quickly.
Some people do not like the high volume of this book, but personally my husband and I and our daughter (who can be quite a critic) don't mind it at all. My daughter loves to dance whenever she hears the music play. And the book is great with offering a variety of instruments. They have the guitar, trumpet, piano, drum set, and violins. Each music diddy is actually cute and have a catchy simple melody. The violins are our favorite. I have played this book to her since she was 4 months old and she is now 10 months old and is not tired of it.
A friend recommended this book after buying one for her grandchild! It is a huge hit for our 3-year old grandson who loves music and is learning the sounds of instruments. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of this book. It's a bargain for the money with wonderful graphics as well. Buy it; you won't be disappointed.
We love, love this book. I think I actually love it more than my kids though hahahah. I am a huge musical instrument lover, so I wanted to introduce my children early on to them with hopes that either one picks up playing any instrument. They are 8 months and 2 years old and I read it to them all the time. This is not the most entertaining book for them until I play the music, they both stop moving around and listen carefully to the music coming from the book. I play it over and over again, especially the violin which is my favorite one.
I'm a musician and I bought this for my friends' 1-year old, to start him early. He loved it! The sounds are great! The book is thick but it only has a few pages---the rest of the depth accounts for the electronics required to play the sounds.
I bought this for my 2 year old son and he loves it. I wish this book has many more instrument sounds in it. I can't wait to have the other book which is not released yet.
