My 3-year-old loves this advent calendar, and so do we. It is lovely and well-designed. The pop-up pieces are delicate but also sturdy enough so that they stand on their own and a small child can manipulate them without ripping. We started on day 11 (oops) and my daughter was able to successfully punch out all of the ornaments, although she needed my help to hang them on the tree. We have not read the story that goes along with this calendar, and it's certainly not necessary to enjoy the calendar, but now I'm inspired to go buy it.

Bought 2 of these, one for our household and one for my sister-in-law. We both love them. My sis-in-law is using for a centerpiece on her dining room table. It is a really beautiful, artsy piece, and all of our kids enjoy the daily ritual of what is behind each number and helps them to count down the days until Christmas. Sometimes the items are even "gifts" to go into the pop up presents under the tree. My kids can't wait until the last day as the numbers are very large and they are guessing as to what is behind that one. Very nice and beautiful way to count down to Christmas.

I got this advent calendar for my 4 year old daughter and every morning when she woke up the first thing she wanted to do was to lift the flap and see what was inside. It was also great because we did a little math with it to figure out how many days were left until Christmas. Each door holds an ornament to place on the pop-up tree...adorable!

I love this advent calendar and so did my daughter. You open the folio to expose a pop-up of a brightly colored tree with presents and a big santa. Each day has a special ornament that you hang on the tree - some ornaments are to be put in the pop-up present boxes. I enjoy Eric Carle's stories and art, so this was a perfect match. I get tired of advent calendars that deal with food or just have some text to read behind the doors. My daughter couldn't wait to see what ornament was next. I saved it to do it again next year.

We are three days into using this calendar, and my 3-year old just loves it. It is well made, very creative, colorful, and fun. The advent calendar is a pop-up one, and each day when children lift the flaps on the day, they get a little ornament (colorful and made of paper) to hang on the pop-up tree. The 25th day presents a star to go on the top of the tree. What a terrific idea! Note that you will need a fairly good sized flat surface to place this calendar on for a month, so if you have a small living space this may not be the right option for you. Otherwise, I recommend it highly.

Oh my gosh! We haven't used this calendar yet but just opening it up and looking inside is just as beautiful as the "Dream Snow" book! We can't wait to decorate the tree inside!

Bought this for my 3 year old son. He loves opening it and seeing everything pop up. A few people have complained about the ornaments falling off the tree. We haven't had any problems with that. They have all stayed on the tree even with him opening and closing it a few times. (I included 2 pics of one of the ornaments hanging on the tree, front and back view) As much as he is enjoying it, I wish I would have waited a year to buy it. He is still a little to rough for the delicate cardboard. I think it would be perfect for a slightly older child.

I got this advent calendar for my little boy. I've always loved the books of Eric Carle, particularly the illustrations, and thought this one might be fun. I also got him a chocolate calendar because we all need those and this isn't that. But this is still probably the coolest advent calendar on the mass market that I've seen. It's a pop up that you open, and in it is a tree surrounded by little boxes. Each day you open a window on the calendar, and inside is either an ornament to hang on the tree or a little gift for your boxes. By the end of the calendar, you have a fully decorated tree and a bunch of little presents underneath. I really liked this one, and am considering getting it again for him next year.
