He’s quick. He’s silent. He has five rows of deadly teeth. Chomp! Meet the shark—the fish who ruled the deep before dinosaurs roamed the Earth! This fish has soft cartilage so he can glide, twist, and turn before his prey can say "gulp!" He can smell a single drop of blood in 25 million drops of ocean. He can feel electricity given off by his prey. He will lose and replace more than 10,000 teeth in his lifetime. Cool photos bring kids into the shark’s world. Fun facts go deep into the shark’s scary science.

My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!

National Geographic has such a good feeling for children books, always provide best looking books. My boy is in love with sharks and he pressures me to buy literally every book about them. The last shark book I had to bought him is this one: Sharks: Kids book of fun facts & amazing pictures on animals in nature (Animals of The World Series)

My 8-year-old great-nephew, who doesn't really care for reading, is in love with this book and carries it around with him everywhere. I can't think of a higher review than that. It's well written -- age appropriate but not patronizing -- and the photos are great quality. I plan on ordering more in the National Geographic Readers series.

Wonderful nonfiction book about sharks. Full on fun facts about sharks. My son enjoyed the read, and so did I. It is interspersed with jokes and colorful pictures and this makes the book more enjoyable! Some of They could've left out the part about, being happy that a certain shark was extinct. My child was a bit offended by that. Other than that, the ending does encourage coexistence with this often feared and misunderstood sea creature.

This is an ok reader, and good for kids that like sharks, but don't be fooled by the level 2-- is seems to be much harder then most level 2's we've brought. We brought it for a kiddo to read and ended up reading it to him (which isn't a bad thing, but not what we intended because he needs to practice reading to himself).

We were very happy with this book. Purchased it as one of three books my 3rd grader needed as a source for a school project. This book was easy enough that he could read & sort through the information himself, yet it still provided great facts & a wealth of knowledge for his report. Plus my younger 2 boys enjoyed it bc of the pictures.

My son claims to love sharks, but felt parts of this were a little creepy. Maybe we shouldn't have read it on vacation at the beach... It is easy to follow, got nice bits of information, and vivid pictures.

We like all of the National Geographic books, we are a family of animal lovers so learning about the different species is always fun. The quality of photos is as you would expect from National Geographic.
