As a Children's Librarian in a major library system, we strive to make our story times pertinent to the age group that attend. We split our story times such that kids of the same age groups are exposed to what is developmentally appropriate for that age group. This book is perfect for the under 15-month crowd. It is not text heavy, it has soft, sleepy-time colors, the book is physically not too heavy and easy for little hands to handle, and Mr. Fish is super adorable. The simple rhyme scheme is just right, with a rock-a-bye cadence. This is a wonderful introduction to the more complicated Pout-Pout Fish books...I just read The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School to a group of 1st graders, and they were enchanted by it. AND, they knew Mr. Fish from previous books. I totally agree with folks who've said that this is a great part of the going to bed routine for little babies. That whole "20 minutes a day" of reading mantra is great for older kids, who are reading on their own. That 20 minutes, however, can be broken up during the day for your babies, a minute here, a minute there. Board books are, by and large, abbreviated versions of the original stories, and are meant to be short, sweet, and disposable (read: eaten!). I am about to read this to my baby story time in a few minutes, but I wanted to get this out before I forgot. Sweet Dreams, everyone!

We love the Pout Pout Fish books, but this one along with "Smile Pout Pout Fish" were short and lame. Very little effort was put into this book, seems like anyone could write a book like this one. It was a huge disappointment after her other great books.

My 1-yr-old loves "reading" this book before bed! I think he recognizes the main character from his older brother's books. So, it is a good set-up for more bedtime stories in the future with the amazing adventures of The Pout-Pout Fish!

I was disappointed when I opened this book and there was very little going on compared to the original pout pout fish book which is full of rhymes and a great story. I expected mire

This adorable book is perfect to read to any baby or young toddler before bed. It is short and rhymes in a cute way that is particularly good for those toddlers that can't sit through long sentences on a page. I'm glad I got it and ordered one for a friend for her baby shower!

We have got two pout pout fish books already and my toddler loves them (so do we - parents) but this book is disappointing (after heaving read the big books). I should have read the reviews beforehand. Its a mini book and not a full version and it seems more suitable for 0 - 2 years rather then 1 - 4 years as or the author suggests. Its a sweet book but very basic, no rhymes and very short sentences. If you're just starting to establish a bedtime routine with your baby, this is great but its too young for a toddler.Luckily I am expecting again and will be bale to use this for my baby instead.

I was underwhelmed with this book, sadly. My daughter (18mos) LOVES the original Pout Pout Fish board book. I knew since this was a "mini adventure" it would be a shorter book with not as much of a story, but the book is literally 12 pages with one sentence on each page. It's good in the sense that a toddler isn't going to have as long an attention span as what might be necessary to last through the original Pout Pout story...but I was really disappointed at the basic nature of this book. It takes me about a minute to read it to my daughter. Overall, sure, it's cute, but the original board book is still our favorite.

Like several other reviews, the toddler and I purchased this book on the strength of the original without doing due diligence and reading the reviews first.... I had worked out a sweet deal with the toddler this particular night, in exchange for a pleasant, calm evening and bedtime she would be rewarded with a new book on the iPad.. We recently became acquainted with the pout pout fish and I knew she was going to pick one of the sequels, so I felt fairly comfortable with that... The toddler picks books like I pick bottles of wine, by the label... So one look at the sleeping fish and she got sucked right in. I knew I was in for it when I finished this story in ohhhhh 30 seconds and she looked up at me with those 'that's it' eyes. So to make up for how bad this one was, I had to read two more stories.... Listen up, if you have a small child you probably have a stack of these sleepy time books( brush teeth, put on pjs blah blah blah)sitting around the house, this one isn't anything special...in fact, there's much better if that's what you're looking for ... I recommend save your change and buying you and the youngin a taco with what you save...... A word to the publishers, a loyal fan base does not like to feel cheated...as others have said, it appears the success of the first one was used to sell a poor book, NOT COOL... The toddler forgives and forgets... I don't and I'm the one with the credit card.
