Fabulous. I have two elementary aged children at a very diverse school and this was a perfect way to help them better understand the actual science behind the myriad of skin colors they see everyday. I plan to gift one to each of their teachers as well!

Excellent book to help teach children about different skin colors and how we get them. Clear and easy to understand without dumbing things down. My 4 year old daughter has enjoyed it and it has been a useful addition to our library.

I was looking for books for my Kindergartner that would begin to introduce themes about race, skin color, etc in a factual, practical way. A lot of books dealing with these themes seamed either too mature for his age or else too babyish, with concepts of race, skin color, etc, shrouded in layers of metaphor. This book just explains all of the reasons why our skin color varies from person to person, and has a page where you can hold up your own hand to a spectrum of peaches, tans, and browns to see where you fit. My almost 5-y-o got it right away, and began talking about skin color in a healthy way after we read it together. I think this is a must-have in your collection if you want to take the mystery out of race for your children and introduce them early to the concept that we are all more similar than we are different. Highly recommend.

Great and very informative book for my 4 year old and 2 year old. Easy for kids to follow and it's also in Spanish. The love the page where they get to compare their skin color to the colors on the page.

Wonderful- straightforward scientific explanation of how we get our unique skin tones. A tremendous resource for early grades.

I am so pleased to find a frank book about skin color that doesn't involve food metaphors. Just a discussion about what makes people have their skin tones. Very nice updated version of this title.

I found the book to be a very informative way to explain skin color. I used it with my grandchildren when they were very young

Wonderful book for introducing race and equality for young ones. Like that it is also bilingual.
