This was my daughter's favorite board book because of its crisp, bright, engaging photos of real people in real settings. The double spread page of a baby playgroup rocked her world. I tried to find similar board books, but none grabbed her like this one--it's better photographed than "Hands Can" and more interesting than "Eating the Rainbow." One reviewer commented that the book shows gender differences. I think that the authors wanted this book to be educational by introducing categories of people, and truth be told, there is no way to categorize people without someone being offended. I did not find it offensive in any way. In fact, I was impressed with the variety of people depicted: they are racially and socio-economically diverse, and a range of ages is depicted. The only fault I find is in the factoids that are superimposed on the photos, factoids that are completely irrelevant to toddlers, such as "Babies have about 300 bones when they are born. Adults have only 206!"

My granddaughter got these books for her birthday and she loves them. Great product for little ones to learn with all the different little books. Love them, bright and sturdy and great learning tool. Thanks for offering them on .

I bought this for my 1 year old. We love the National Geographic Little Kids series, and we love books about people. But this book is entirely about gender. The first page includes the phrase "these people are girls," and the next page says "can you find the girls on the school bus?" It continues on this way with boys, men, and women. It seems really odd to me to ask toddlers to differentiate between genders.

I liked this book because it show many different people (e.g., different ethniticites, young/old, babies, women/men).

My daughter loves this book. Asks for "people".
