I wanted to teach my daughter about Halloween and the differnt characters associated with it. Great pictures and very entertaining for my 18 month old! I thought it completely met expectations. The flip open tabs that reveal the pictures provide lengthy entertainment for my daughter, highly recommend this book!
This is my son's favorite book. The size is perfect for his toddler hands, and he loves poking his finger through the hole in the front cover. The artwork is wonderful! It creates the perfect Halloween ambiance, without being too scary. The scariest image is a "skull" on a bookshelf, but it looks kind of like an alien face, not really scary. But it IS a haunted house complete with ghosts and other characters. It's a counting book (1-10). The price cannot be beat! I am currently shopping for other books with artwork by the artist. Highly recommended!
It's an AWESOME little book, with amazingly drawn pictures. My only complaint is that the flips are the cheapest I've ever seen with a professionally printed book and glued on, toddlers can easily rip them off (but easily glued on again too, so that's the big plus). It's worth the money and a fun little book with amazing drawings. First looking at it, you're so scared to open any flap, but all pictures under the flap aren't too scary, so most of the scare is the suspense on the parents part with suspecting the worse we've filled our heads with. This is my 2yr old's favorite book. I bought it a week ago and have to read it at least 2 times before she would go to bed. There were time I read it almost 10 times. Love it! Best $3.99 I ever spent.
Just like many others complained, the flaps are very cheap and come off with ease. I read a lot of reviews beforehand and thought, for the price, it was worth a shot. The actually content of the book was alright. It has a lot of different things related to Halloween so that was nice, but by the second or third time my children had pulled many of the flaps off. I would recommend for families with older children who know not to pull off the flaps. For parents with young children, save the money.
flaps are very flimsy and the book wasn't very interesting to my son since the pictures are pretty dark in some cases. I don't think the flaps would stand up to very many reads.
To get my 17 month old (mostly myself) into the Halloween spirit, I bought several themed books for him. This one is just ok, for his age. He likes it because it has flaps inside to pull back as we're going through the book. To me, it's too small. The pictures are very detailed and the illustrations are great - but, it's in too small of a book. The pages are thinner than a typical board book, but thicker than a standard book. It's a good size to fit in his hand, but to have nice pictures and the flaps inside, I think it should be bigger. This one just isn't our favorite, but it's cute.
I bought this for my 3 year old son to get him more familiar with Halloween in a kid friendly way. He loves this book and will sit and recite it to himself. He also loves to count the items on each page. It's a very cute book for young children and you can't beat the price.
