I checked this book out at the library to use for my first grade students, who were interested in the topic. My five year old daughter loves it too. I like that the author uses correct terminology for uterus, vagina, and penis, but I don't like that he calls the umbilical cord a "twisty tube." It is a great beginner book because it doesn't go into too much detail, but it answers basic questions. There are no diagrams. The statement is made that half of the first cell comes from the woman's body and half comes from the man's body, but there are no details about sex.

The item description says that it is aimed at 2-4 year olds, but the content and layout are too complex for children at the lower end of that range. I would say it's good for children aged 4-6.It's a cute book, if your kids are the right age. It does the job well, balancing humor and frankness. For younger children, I would recommend When You Were Inside Mommy by Joanna Cole. In many ways, the content is identical, but the simplicity of its presentation makes it easily digestible for 2-4 year olds. My 29-month-old son absolutely loves it - and truly understands it.

This story is from the big brother and big sister's perspective and guides them through the growing stages of the fetus! Great diversity! Great inclusive language - babies can drink breast milk or from a bottle!

JUST what we needed. It gives info, but not too much. Exactly the right amount for my 5 year old daughter. The correct words are used, but it doesn't dwell on that as much as the baby in the mom's uterus and how it's developing. If you have a child that's ready to know, this is the book to start with! I'm glad A MIGHTY GIRL recommended it. Spot on!

Both my children find this book engaging and interesting. The pictures are delightful and the biology is well described.I'd recommend for two to three year old's.First rate in my opinion.

My son loves this book - asks for us to read it constantly and quotes from it at times. He even explained to his older cousin that babies grow in a uterus, not in mommy's tummy.

Great book! My oldest is expecting her first baby and so my 5 year old has been asking alot of questions. This book answered them all very age appropriately! Thank You!

We like this book, however, we feel it is too much info for our 5 1/2 year old. We are going to wait to introduce to her when she is a little older.
