This is not your normal doctor Suess book, it really tells with great illustrations the different parts of a horse, explains the names like sire, foal etc and how the heights is determined, the different saddles, English versus western style and why they are used, plus different types of horses and where they are from, the different gaits. My great niece, 2.5 yrs and great nephews 5.5 and almost 7 year olds loved the book. The two littles ones love all animals including horses.
This book is one of my daughters favorites growing up as she was into horses and we wanted her to be into them. My parents own horses so she was always wanting to explore more. Well written age appropriate.
I am absolutely in love with the Cat in the Hat learning library series. This book if I ran the horse show is all about horses all shapes and sizes comma their body parts, what different kinds of horses are called, and even Saddles reins etc. This book is a tad bit difficult especially for a young reader and did not keep my three year olds attention. It included a lot of information even tons of stuff that I had no idea about horses and is definitely geared towards a slightly older child who can understand things a bit more and can follow along with a long story. Still it's a great book and I hope that she enjoys it a little bit further and her future.
The whole family loves this book. Daughter and I are learning to ride together. Her Aunt and Grandparents have been horse folk their whole lives, and were surprised how much content on horse breeds this book had that they did not know. Love that the new Dr. Seuss books are as educational as they are fun to read. Very pleased!
This is another great book to help kids learn about horses and horse shows and to supportknowledge/kindness to animals. It teaches the physical attributes and what role they playin the structure and movement of horses.
I teach riding to kids and also organize a horse show series. When I was looking for year end award ideas for our Lead Line riders I came across this book. I bought it SOLELY for the name and cover. When I received it and read the book I was amazed at the attention to detail. Most books like this "about" horses tend to glaze over things or not get something right this book did it and made it rhyme! I will be using the Horse Part Rhyme at summer camps from now on! Now I am proud to give this book out to our future Show Kids!
I love horses and Dr. Suess so this was an easy buy. The rhyming matched his style and was fun to read. I even learned about a breed of horse I had never heard of!! Any horse loving child (or adult with child's heart) will enjoy this colorful book.
I bought this to have at my house for the grandchildren. I know very little about horses, but my grand daughter loves them. I only glanced through the book, but was very impressed! Then again, it is a Dr. Seuss, so how could it be anything less!
