I'm studying for an equine massage therapy class I'm about to take. And though the homework course they give usually has great illustrations to go with it - for the musculature system - I just really needed a better to see and understand drawing. So I bought this book for a few dollars and then another book for 20 or so dollars. Both are good, but I use this fantastic, very inexpensive little book ALL the time! It was EXACTLY what I need and has proven to be an invaluable asset in helping me understand where the muscles lie etc.
I bought this book to help teach my 11 year old daughter to know all aspects of equine anatomy.It does the job. There is more than most people will ever truly need, but you will have in your hands a good reference to each area of the equine.I like it, could be better if there were a diagram of bone structure that only showed the major bones and areas most referred to for horse owners. I would say each diagram has about 70% more detail than most people need.Yet, too much is better than too little.
This horse anatomy book is amazing. I have to admit I didn't expect much but I was surprised at how in depth it is. It features 30 pages of very detailed black and white illustrations. It starts with the evolution of the horse. It covers points of the horse, musculature, skeletal system, and even organs and other systems like respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, etc. I bought this book for my young son who loves horses. He absolutely loves it and has already looked at it numerous times. Great for kids or adults. This would be a great tool for anyone who owns a horse or is studying veterinary medicine as well. Overall a fantastic little book!
I am a muscle person...a human massage therapist at the moment and with the hopes of diversifying by working with horses and dogs. This book is helpful... along with other books I am using regarding the anatomy, muscle and bone structure of horses, though I know a bit about it already. One can never learn enough.
A must for everyone who wants to master horse anatomy from head to foot. It gives you all the information you need to know about different parts of a horse inside and out. Just when you think you know everything about horses this book further sharpens your knowledge. A must book companion for those aspiring to have complete mastery about horse anatomy. Coloring book!!!!! NOT! This is an amazing complete depiction of every muscle in a horse's body. It would be fun to color, too. The price is incredible. If this book were considered a text book for a vet class or zoology class it would be a couple hundred dollars. There are no explanations, but the drawings are great! I made copies of individual drawings to draw on and take notes on for my personal use so that I did not mess up the book, but at $3.99, I could afford to by many copies :)
I bought it because I bought my first horse. i check this out every few days so I can master it a bit, for when I need to know some things or if I ever have to talk to the vet, ferrier, or even the folks at the barn where he is staying. Its great to have it on the shelf for reference.
Got as a gift with the movie flicka for an 11 year old who rides horses and wants to bea veterinarian. My daughters friend and her mom both really liked it. She likes it had a lot of facts and info she will need to learn if she wants to be a veterinarian working with horses. I already bought her a bryer horse book for her bday and she loved it. It was hard to find something unique yet pleasing that measured up to that one!
