An instant favorite with my 1-year-old. She loves seeing the animals and imitating their sounds - especially the tiger's ROAR!As with other Karen Katz books, the flaps are not the sturdiest (nor the weakest). My baby could probably destroy them pretty quickly without supervision. However, the book is light enough for her to carry around as a result. Can't have it both ways!
My 13 month old LOVES this book. We have a few other Karen Katz books as well, which he enjoys, and that is why I tried another. Today before his afternoon nap, he chose to read this one no less than 5 times and I think he could have kept going if I would have complied. He really loves the book but I do agree with other reviewers about the sturdieness of the flaps. In the 18 hours we have owned this book, he has already bent two of the flaps trying to pull them back. They're a little challenging for chubby little fingers.By Karen Katz, we also Own Baby's Box of Fun and "where is baby's pumpkin" all of which are enjoyed around here.Another flap book he enjoys is "Dear Zoo"
Good book for under 6 dollars. My son at 8 months thought it was great and wanted to read it a second time. We got it because he loved the Zoom Zoom Baby book so much. He liked the large high contrast letters, flaps, and mommy saying noises. Mommy did not let him touch the flaps though because they could cause paper cuts esp with his current dexterity. This is definitely going to be one of his top 5 favorite books for a while. The only cons are the wording rhythm is changed from the Zoom Zoom baby book, so I simply adjust it to match AND the sounds do not really makes sense so I do my own.
My son loves Karen Katz books. I especially love all her books for him. Sometimes I catch him opening a book and flipping the pages on his own to read. I know it's because of the illustration and the open flaps of the book. I have been reading Karen Katz books to Ham since he was a little baby he is now a little over two years old and he still enjoys all of her books!
When I teach classes for my business, I always reach for these books first! They are great for little hands as well as short attention spans! I teach American Sign Language through my self owned business and have found that being able to sign a word and then lift flaps as well keeps children very engaged. I start using these books at 3 months all the way through 3 years because of the short stories and beautiful colors! This particular book is a very fun one to teach animals as well as work on those animal sounds that will be the pride and joy of your baby starting from 10 months through 3 years. Definitely recommend for preschoolers, homeschoolers, and teachers. Here are some other great options!Baby's Box of Fun: A Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Gift Set: Where Is Baby's Bellybutton?; Where Is Baby's Mommy?: Toes, Ears, & Nose!Zoom, Zoom, Baby!: A Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Book (Karen Katz Lift-The-Flap Books)
My kids LOVE the Karen Katz books. I thought they were going to be easily ripped, but they've been heavily used and we haven't had a flap ripped yet. The story is short and sweet and the flaps are easy to open.
Another in Karen Katz's "Baby" series this flip-the-flap board book finds Baby at the zoo looking for a little tiger, Along with Baby the preschoolers will have to flip a number of flaps to see what animals are hiding behind them. Big, bold illustrations and accompanying animal sounds make this a participation book that a young child can get into, Note: The flaps need to be folded back a few times so the child can easily grasp them and the last page with a full page fold-out can be a challenge for a young toddler to grasp. Mom and dad may have to lend a hand!Overall this book should be a hit with any youngster who loves animals so long as the child is ready to flip-the-flaps!
This is a cute book about a missing tiger. My grandson loves tigers and animals in general. The flaps to reveal the animal is also a favorite. This is our second Karen Katz book and we were pleased with it too!
