My dear readers, I am Kate O'Hearn, the author of the Pegasus series. I am not writing a review of my own book. However, reading the current reviews on regarding my latest Pegasus title, I am so very sorry for the confusion there has been on the titles of the Pegasus series. Please bear in mind that there is an American publisher for the Pegasus series, and the original English publisher.What has happened is the US series is just being released by Simon & Schuster - and they have changed the covers and titles. As the author, I had no say in this, nor did they do this to cheat my readership. I would also like it to be known that I love these new covers and titles; it is thrilling to finally see Emily on Pegs.However, it is unfortunate that some people have bought the English edition and now believe the US editions are the follow-on to the series. Emily has been reborn as the Flame of Olympus, but all she wants to do is return to New York to find her father, who is still being held in a secret government facility run by the CRU. She, along with Pegasus, Joel and Paelen, must battle monsters and fight against the CRU to rescue him. Another Olympian, Cupid, insists in joining them. Can Emily control her powers in time to rescue her father and save Olympus from destruction?This is the second book in the series. I absolutely LOVED it! Sometimes a second book is not as good as the first one, but this one is as good, if not better! This book is as fast paced as the first one, and the action is more intense!Emily is a fantastic character. I keep forgetting that she's only 13! Because she has been re-born as the Flame, she has now developed Olympian powers, which she is struggling to control.Joel has grown a lot too. Not just his character, but physically too. He is one of my favourite characters. He has a more level-headed approach to problems and doesn't panic.Paelen has become a reformed character. He has given up being a thief, but he is a fantastic friend! He can always get you out of a tight spot! He's my favourite character after Pegasus!Kate has introduced a whole range of new characters in this book; Some good, and some down-right nasty! I love how she has combined them to enhance and enrich the story. This is a fantastic adventure series for children (11+) and adults too. I highly recommend this book if you love mythology or horses, or both.
It was difficult to get my son (4th grader) to read but Kate's book changed that. She is an excellent writer and her book is fast pace and the story captures my son's attention. My son told me he loved the Pegasus books and wanted to read more. I was thrill to say the least. He has finished the first 4 books (in 2 weeks!) and now eagerly awaits for the 5th book (coming out end of this year). For someone who is having a hard time to get their little ones to read, try this one. It is not a huge book by any means and the story line is awesome. I would recommend this to a child who is not interested in reading any books. Worth a try!
The first time I read this book I LOVED it! But then I went back and read it again and it got on my nerves. I LOVED the plot and the idea, but the characters. Emily just seemed like a whiny, annoying eight year old. She's all, poor me my dad's gone and I can't control my flame powers. It honestly just got on my nerves.
I loved this book because it is packed with action and adventure. I think thatthis book is probably my favorite book. If you decide to buy this book, you will enjoy it.-Colette, Age 8
My son found the first book in this series at the library and loved it. We could not find a copy anywhere of the 2nd so ordered from the UK through . We expected the shipping to take around a month and the book arrived the next week! My son loved the book and we are looking forward to the 3rd one in the series.
Not as we'll written as book one; I felt more like I was reading a book for middle schoolers.And I was confused thinking that there were/are three books. Not so....still a pretty good story all around.
She loved this book... she did mention a couple times that it was heart wrenching. But she intends on continuing the seriesfor her summer reading. She likes to read, but need to be reminded. This book kept her eager.
