Young and old can appreciate this colorful and patriotic commemoration of our nation's anthem. This beautifully-produced gift includes the origins of the song, the full lyrics of Francis Scott Key, and illustrations by beloved American folk artist Susan Winget. Written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812 as he watched a British naval bombardment, the song became the official US national anthem in 1931. The lyrics of the song come to life for the young and young of heart with one-of-a kind scenes of battlefields, the White House and Capitol, Old Glory on the moon and at Ground Zero, and star-spangled quilts

I own an original from 1942 1st printing. I am glad to see it still around. It restores the values of our country. The images are great you can study each one and see how we all rallied around our country and what made it great. It gives you a glimpse of the past and when we were very patriot oriented when we were in the IIWW. It is great for kids to see what our country was like then. Also how many of us can sing the 2nd verse of the Star Spangled banner let alone the 4th. It is all here. Own a great American book. Show your kids and grand kids a piece of history. you won't be disappointed.Dale
