I liked the story of the orchestra in book form as well as the CD. I like children to listen to and to see things if they are learning about new things. The orchestra needs to be explained in words, pictures, and sound.
This is a superb book/CD set for introducing the orchestra, all its instruments, and musical terms such as tempo, dynamics, etc. We first got it when my son was 3 and he just liked the book, now at age 4 he is captivated by the CD as well. I like that it can grow with a child's understanding/interest for several years. Peter Ustinov's narration in fantastic, a real treat to listen to!
Excellent resource to introduce children to the instruments ofthe orchestra. Particularly valuable when used in conjunction withthe tape.
This book narrates in a kid friendly manner the various types of instruments used in an orchestra. The book contains bright colourful illustrations of different instruments.
Please see my review of the DVD by the same title which was purchased at the same time. Great find of an out-of-print book.
