I do not know how marketed this book, but my notifcation email from the publisher, HarperCollins, clearly stated that this was a blank journal. It sounds like some people are disappointed with , but that should not cause them to give this wonderful journal just one star. This hardback journal has lined pages and is full of original illustrations and also some of the wittiest quotes from the books. The whole mood of the journal fits so well with the books that it is a must have for any Lemony Snicket fan who needs a new commonplace book. It is beautifully done and something that was long overdue.
This is a very nice commonplace book for the fans of A Series of Unfortunate events. Nicely bound, and quotes from the books are scattered throughout the pages.I am not sure why everyone else is so upset about this book. It is fairly obvious it is not a new book. The title doesn't match new books, the price isn't the same, it came out only 6 months after the most recent edition (book 12), and in the listing I see, it says, "(Journal)". The cover doesn't even look like the cover of one of the books in the series.Must-have for the Baudelaire fan who wishes to keep his or her own journal.
As a big Lemony Snicket fan, being thirteen, my opinion may not matter much to anyone who reads it. However, I, like Klaus Baudelaire, have read many a more books than the average man reads in a lifetime. Having the reading comprehension of an adult, I say the book was utterly Snicket, a phrase here whitch means "Nothing less than expected of this wonderful, and slightly misunderstood, author." So I shame those who have given him merely two stars!! I have, like Mr.Snicket and the Baudelaires, have done a great deal of research on him, and some do not like his books, while others find it perfect for their taste. I am one of these people, who love a good mystery WITHIN the story, not a mystery itself. So for those who dislike Mr. Snicket, go read Pride and Prejudice, and leave this book alone.
This is a blank journal with quotes and a few faded pictures in the background that you can write over all based on the excellent A Series of Unfortunate Events. It is pretty small which makes it easy to pack in a book bag. It is hard back and nicely done.Overall if you are a fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, you'll enjoy this journal.
It was in pretty poor taste for .com to send an email announcing the publication of this book without mentioning it was a blank notebook. My son and I were very disappointed when we found it was not, as it appeared to be, really a book in the Series of Unfortunate Events. I consider it an unfortunate event indeed.
Just a warning to all of you that this is not a novel. It is an journal to write your own thoughts in. My daughter was so excited thinking that this was the next in the series of books that she pre-ordered it. She was so disappointed upon opening it. She found only quotes from the other books and sketches from the other stories at the bottom of each blank page. The message on the back of the book from the author is that, "he has always found a blankbook to be invaluable..." So before you decide to buy it make sure you know what you are getting. I think it should have been advertised as a journal.
I wish this book had the same Matte finish as the books in the Series, but instead it has a Glossy cover! It sticks out like a sore thumb. :-(
It's a blank journal. The description says nothing about a blank journal. I can buy one at the dollar store for oh, about a dollar. I hope there aren't too many disappointed kids who pre-ordered. My daughter said, "Send it back!" That's what we will be doing.
