This funny, sweet and wise book will inspire your kids that they can make a difference in the world with things they care about -- what's better than that?! I was looking for a summer/end-of-school gift, and so far this has been a real hit. The book examine real problems that kids will know and identify with, offers humorous and thoughtful solutions from other kids, then gives lots of space and freedom for kids to write their own solutions down. Also, the book encourages kids to actively make their solutions realities (giving simple next steps and resources), and also profiles many young people who have made a difference in the world. With the state of the world such as it is, this is the kind of book I want to give and support, and I'll continue to do so -- it's a really positive, fun and creative book. And, I confess that it's even inspired this slightly jaded adult!
My 1st and 3rd grade sons were doing a Butterfly Effect Project at school where they had to come up with something that could positively impact and change our community. I bought this book to help them get ideas flowing and it worked perfectly! This book is an awesome tool to help kids understand how much their actions can help the world around us. Each problem that they had to solve had an area to draw pictures which they loved! Definitely recommend this book!
Suzy Becker's Kids Make it Better is a gem of a book, an item I wish populated my childhood bookshelf. In opening with her revelation that a lemonade stand can change the world, Suzy plants a magical seed in her readers' minds--anything is possible. The interactive journal inspires children (and adult readers alike) to think outside of the box yet use all the crayons in the box to draw, sketch, doodle, or write in solutions to problems ranging from nail-biting to illness. As an adult, I can appreciate the power of such a unique work. Kids Make It Better is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the soul and makes a great birthday gift, holiday gift, or just plain "I love you" gift to any child in your life!
It is a great books for kids to express their creativity and also express ways in which they can contribute to making things better.

Kids are the original "think outside the box" thinkers and Suzy Becker has reminded us of this> The kids in the book, and yours at home, come up with great solutions for problems that we either are too overwhelmed to talk to kids about or don't believe kids can help...but they do!
