I thought teaching fractions to my son was going to be hard. But using this book, made it really simple. It started out pretty basic, but just seemed to move at a good pace quickly teaching fractions. I was shocked how easy my son learned his fractions and really enjoyed it too. Also, if you're looking for a good science series for your homeschooling child, I highly recommend the "cr Wonders of Science" series by Gottlieb / Steck-Vaughn. I really struggled trying to find a good science series. These science books really teach hard subjects like motion/force/matter in such a simple way. Just make sure you buy the books published in the 2000. The lessons in some of the older books aren't as good.
This was very helpful for my middle schooler. Big math books overwhelm him, but he really liked that this was a small book, specific topics he need extra work on, and the explanations were thorough and right there where he needed them for reference. In fact, he tore out the perforated explanation pages and is keeping them in a file in case he wants to review again later. I only have it four stars because I would have liked to see a few more practice problems.
