Identical to all Student Practice Books for CC Math and consequently it shares all of the good and the bad of them all. The good is that the book carefully follows the math program and provides a ready source of additional practice problems for the student to use in the classroom or at home. The bad, and this is a real problem, is that the book does not include a comprehensive answer key, including sample solution models where appropriate, to allow the parent or tutor to quickly score the practice sheets and provide feedback to the student. There seems to be some sort of bias in the publishers of CC material against providing answers and examples related to practice materials and test to any but teachers who have paid full licensing fees. This is a great disservice to the program which relies heavily upon parent support of students for its success. While some parents may be able, and have the time to work out answers to all of the practice problems, many do not or won't and only the students and the CC program will suffer.
I bought this book to go with "Go math student edition 4th grade" and "Go Math reteach book". My student is doing great went from N to B in one term. The 2 go math 4th grade books are what my student uses in class and the reteach is a break down of what these books are asking for. Perfect Combinations. Highly recommend all of them.
Low quality. It dosen't explain things well and wont let you use shortcuts. Math can be fun but Go Math takes all the fun out. Try Life of Fred by Stanley Schmidt. It makes simple things complicated and tedious.
I would definitely recommend this to other parents. I purchased it because my daughter brings home a book bag that is just too heavy for a child to carry. So, we leave this extra copy at home & that way she does not have to carry it to and from school.
This is the appropriate companion to the Go Math! student edition, which I would give 0 stars if possible, if I had had to buy that.In fairness, its problems may be due to slavishly following the Common Core standards and prevailing spiral model, i.e., it is what the authors intended. It also is possible for average students to complete within the 180 day school year.Like some other Common Core books, topics are ordered according to the standards, not progressively in terms of difficulty, or logically in terms of "this topic requires prior knowledge of that" to be comprehended. So unit 3 might be end of year stuff, while unit 8 really easy. The writing quality is often poor, i.e., unclear explanations, instructions, and even questions an adult (native speaking math teacher) has to read two or three times to figure out what is being asked.Problem sets are also very uneven, rapidly escalating in complexity within a single lesson. The most complex test concepts that are above grade level and have not been taught, I guess to separate the brightest from everyone else.Problem sets are not repetitive enough either to bore students, or to force their mastery of material.Spiral is loose enough (like most spiral math) that by the time you return to a topic, the kids have forgotten it and need to review the old lessons. My guess is, the top quartile of students will learn and be challenged enough. The bottom three-quarters will struggle and learn only to "hate" math, believing they can't learn it.I would recommend any traditional math textbook from a mainline publisher ahead of this.
Bad it's confusing for my son also don't learn nothing
Great buy and arrived quickly!!
