My daughter loved this book...Though I suspect, when we ordered it, she still thought the book would be about Queen Elizabeth II, she thoroughly enjoyed this look back to the sixteenth century. So much so, one evening, after we put her to bed, she continued reading (a nightly ritual in our house) for longer than usual to 'finish the story.' My wife and I sort of forgot about her, and found her still reading after 11! This whole series is great fun - I recommend them to anyone with a youngster curious about history and prominent figures. There are just enough challenging words to stretch a young reader's skill without frustrating them and so many teachable moments for a parent. Also, the periodic vignettes provide a built-in way for parent and child to take turns if desired.

I used this book for students to study a person in history to write a report on. This was for a 4th grade classroom. Each student read the novel on their own and filled out a novel study that I created for non-fiction books. Students were able to follow the book with ease and understand what they were reading. There were several pictures to aid in understanding. There is also a timeline that helps students understand the timeline of events as they read. Very great resource.

My 8-year-old history buff loved this book. He has also read a number of other books from this series, and he has loved them all.

Good book with great info about Queen Elizabeth's life. The large font, pictures, and short chapters make it an easy read. We homeschool and we read one "Who Was..." book each week for enrichment. Fast shipping, arrived in perfect condition. Will add it to our collection.

I bought these for my third grade classroom. They are great for the biography genre and then to use for report writing. The three years I've used them so far the kids LOVED them. Easy for their reading levels, informative, and people they have heard of in their lives. They would read their own and then read other that they had heard of. Could have left these books out 1/2 year and they would have still been reading them.

This is a great synopsis of the life of Elizabeth I of England trailing her trials, tribulations, and glory during the Elizabethan era. This is a great book for my ESL tutee who will be entering high school at the end of summer.I want him to become more familiar with great historical figures and the times in which they lived and their accomplishments. This is a wonderful addition to his library that will broaden his knowledge of world history.

Love these books. My son, who is 9 has been reading them for a little over a year now and this book is wonderful. I must say that this one is not one of his favorites. He is a history junkey, lol. He so far seems to love the Jackie Robinson, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Robert E Lee, What is the world series the best as a 8 and 9 year old.I also read these to him in the evenings and I really enjoy them as a 40 year old father. I have learned so much from them as well. Sometimes I read them before or after my son in order to have an educated discussion with him about the subject of the book. I really also get alot out of them as well.

Great book. Children love this series. It gives facts while keeping the story interesting.
