What a gorgeous book! Just the look of this huge (somewhere around 11 by 14 inches) volume is amazing. The illustrations have a retro look that will please not only the kids but the adults in the family. And the tricks are great. This is a terrific Christmas idea for your little magician.Another thing I like about this book is that there are several opportunities for the parents to get involved with their children in the preparation of some of the "props".It will certainly keep them busy for a while. And that's a good thing.
I work teaching magic to kids, and this book was an awesome addition to my library. It's well designed visually, and explains how to do the tricks well enough for very young magicians to understand, but still be entertaining to older ones.
This book is the perfect gift for a child! It's oversized, so it really makes a statement and has stunning illustrations throughout. It's full of amazing magic tricks for "little hands" that are easy to make and so fun for kids to perform. The instructions for each trick are clearly written and simple to follow, making the kid look like a pro! This is great book for kids of all ages, and whether they already love magic or not - they will love this awesome book.
After seeing Josh perform magic tricks live, my sons have been running around the house performing their own "magic" tricks, i.e. "Look at the ball - then they throw it away and yell - NOW YOU DON'T!" This book will be PERFECT for them to really learn some mind boggling magic tricks from the master of magic himself - JOSHUA JAY!
This book actually contains REAL magic tricks, such as ones you might see on stage. It is very well written, and they also discuss topics such as stage fright and how to overcome it (which can be applied of course to other situations, not just for performing magic).
This book is a big hit in my house! My kids have had so much fun learning what is very big magic to them (and so have I, to be honest!) Joshua Jay has a wonderful way of relating to kids! I see this book playing a big part in creating some budding new magicians in this young generation!
I bought this for my niece who likes magic and she loved this book. It had awesome illustrations and it is such a great size. Such a nice book and hours of fun for kids. I like that this was everyday magic. Nothing super complicated needed to do these tricks. My niece is 9.
We were learning magic for our first time as adults and we're going to teach 5 and 6 year olds to perform magic and have an actual performance at the end of the week. I really thought this book would help us but most tricks were more complicated than we wanted to do. The book is big in size, really too big for little hands to hold but the Magician Oaths, the illustrations and font of the book were very easy to see and read. I would recommend for an 8 or more year old child.
