My son received this for xmas and it's really terrific. Tons of interesting subjects to choose from and surely enough variety to spark any imagination. The only thing wrong with this book is the binding. It is glued at the spine and doesn't lie flat enough for drawing in. I didn't give this to my son immediately for that reason because it would have frustrated him. What I did, however, was take the book to a local copyshop and had them slice off the existing binding and instead spiral bind the entire book. Now it's perfect because it lies completely flat. It cost a few dollars for the spiral binding but it's totally worth it.
This was actually purchased as a gift for our neighbors 6yr old son but we read through it before giving it and it's such a fun and FUNNY book! The illustrations are great and I just love open ended coloring books in general. This one adds the element of humor to it, which is great...almost a bit like a comic book. I know the receiver of this loves it too as he shows us the book often when we see him and went through most of it almost as soon as he got it. That might be my one criticism...that I wish it were longer BUT the nice thing about it is that even though he has completed most pages, he still pulls it out to look at it and show it off, like a real book he created himself. This is a GREAT gift!By the way, while much of the themes are "boyish" this by no means is for boys only. My 5yr old daughter wanted one for herself!
Both my son (10) and daughter (13) Loved this book. Very creative and interesting. This one, Ooodles of Doodles, and the Halloween Doodles books are high recommends from both me and my children, but this one is the best of the three in my opinion. Very Impressed. Hours of fun, amusing illustrations, suitable for a boy or girl, great as gifts. You will not be sorry with this purchase!
This is a great book, but it really needs to have a spiral binding for easier drawing. I will be taking it somewhere to have it spiral bound. It was bigger than I thought it would be.
My 7 year old son got this for Christmas from grandma, and he absolutely loves it! My 10 year old son and husband got hooked too. They have pages with castles, dragons, robots, trucks, animals, etc., so there's plenty of variety. The idea is that they give you the start of a picture -- like tires -- and then you draw a monster truck. It was a great thing to keep the kids occupied in a quiet activity while visiting grandparents and would work well on a long plane ride, too.
This book is awesome! I bought for my 7 year olds birthday. He loves to draw and is very creative and artistic. This book has many fillable pages such as 'draw the bridge and save the people' or 'draw to capture the thief' very imaginative and fun!
Great for triggering the imagination and encouraging boys to draw things that might otherwise be daunting.It provides a scenario, partially drawn and lets you finish it anyway you want. My 6 year old grandson really enjoys it.
This book was better than I expected it to be. It is a high quality doodle book. Requires you to use your imagination, but gives you part of a picture or word prompts to get you started. I gave this as gift to my 8 year old son, he was amused and it works well for car trips, etc. Much better than playing video games or watching tv- a fun and relaxing activity book.
